Seismic Brewing Co. | Namazu Oat Pale Ale
Did you feel that tremor coming from Sonoma County?! The epicenter is Seismic Brewing Co. and you better brace yourself for a lot of aftershocks. When people think of Sonoma I am 90% sure they think of wine country, sun-soaked vines and not about the fantastic beer scene that is exploding up there. Namazu Oat Pale Ale is at the epicenter of that quake.
Seismic Brewing was started by friends who wanted to bring environmentally sustainable beer to the world, at least California for now. They have a lot of high tech equipment that helps them meet this goal and a team of like-minded crew to propels them forward.
ABV: 4.8% | IBU: 30
The legend of Namazu says that the giant catfish lives under Japan and is watched over by Kashima, a god, and when Kashima turns his gaze Namazu thrashes about causing massive earthquakes.
This unique pale ale is brewed with flaked oats and is not your traditional American pale ale. In fact, it’s an oat pale ale. It uses six different kinds of hops, too – Cascade, Mosaic, Simcoe, Calypso, Belma and Hüll Melon. This refreshing, citrusy and crisp brew will have you doing a double take!
Namazu comes in six packs and available on tap at Seismic Brewing Co. With such a low ABV, you can imbibe without regrets. I have a lot of glassware, and I thought the perfect pint glass would be my “I Love California Beer” Yelp glass—especially since Seismic Brewing is all about being sustainable.
