This festive German-style lager was conceived after chatting with a customer who also happened to be a Beer Sommelier from Germany. While discussing fall Festbiers and Oktoberfest lagers, he described a rare style of beer brewed for the winter months that is malt forward and sometimes spiced with cinnamon depending on the town. Heavily based on our popular Oktoberfest recipe and brewed with premium heirloom German barley, this delightful and smooth lager is a bit stronger and has a pleasant seasonal spice. It’s certain to put you in the holiday spirit!

A MOMENT IN TIME #4: BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS
A Collaborative dinner event with our friend, Chef Will Harris

Friends,
On Tuesday, December 10th we will be hosting our 4th paired beer dinner event, and the last dinner for 2019.
For this particular evening, we are teaming up with our mates, Queen City Collective Coffee, and Chef Will Harris (Linger, Root Down, Ophelia’s, among others) to bring you a unique dinner in which we will serve you beer, coffee, and food.
This 4-course affair will feature an eclectic mix of food from a variety of backgrounds and inspirations, 3 different beers fitting for December weather, and 2 delicious coffees. We want to show you what our space is about!

Tickets for this special dinner will be $70 and the cost includes gratuity. We can only accommodate 30 people, so we recommend grabbing tickets early! Please visit the Novel Strand taproom during beer or coffee hours to purchase a ticket or visit Queen City’s Five-Points shop. Alternatively, 10 tickets will be available via Eventbrite.

The premier beer of the dinner is a collaboration between us and the coffee cats of Queen City, affectionately named ‘WORKINONIT’ (R.I.P J-DILLA). We brewed a hearty Imperial Stout base with 7 different malts, and then cold infuse a special Ethiopian Coffee into it. We use a variety called WORKA, from the Wuri Coffee Station in Worka-Sakaro, Gedeb District, Ethiopia. This natural process heirloom variety produces unique flavors of sweet and tart berries that we really wanted to showcase. We worked with Luke, Queen City’s roast master man to develop a roasting procedure that highlights as many unique flavors of WORKA as possible, while minimizing the ‘roasty’ characteristic of the coffee. This beer is warming and delightful and expresses itself with beautiful notes of chocolate berry cake, a gentle sweetness, and a delicate pop of coffee on the finish.

We will also be serving our Kölsch inspired ale, EAU DE COLOGNE, as well as an old winter favorite, SMÙID, an ale inspired by traditional Scottish Wee Heavy. Queen City will be serving pour overs of the specially roasted WORKA, as well as a special espresso-based drink to be paired with the desert.
Options from the full beer and coffee/tea menus will be available a la carte.
