Beer News Recap

It’s hard to believe that two days ago marked the 1 month anniversary of PorchDrinking.com’s existence. During that time we have built a great community of readers, established a recurring schedule, and even gained press passes for tomorrow’s Summer Brew Fest and Great American Beer Fest in October. It has truly been an amazing month. Thanks for all of our support thus far, and we look forward to your continued involvement!

Now on the subject of Great American Beer Fest, tickets for the general public go on sale this Thursday, August 2 at 10 a.m. MDT and can be found on www.ticketmaster.com. These tickets go like hot cakes, so have your mouse primed and ready to go! We’ll be providing complete coverage leading up to the event as well as on site coverage during the event. Also be on the look out for a PorchDrinking sponsored event leading up to GABF week. Speaking of GABF, the 2012 brewery list was posted earlier today.

Tonight we’ll be live tweeting from Denver’s Summer Brew Fest. The tickets are still available and can be found at http://summerbrewfest.eventbrite.com/?ref=etckt  This event will feature more than 125 beers from more than 45 breweries! If you’re attending stop by and say hi!

Renegade Brewing recently released their Elevated Wood, which is their Elevation aged in Bourbon Barrels. They also recently launched a revamped website www.renegadebrewing.com.

New Belgium Brewery will be releasing their Red Hoptober seasonal on Monday at Hodi’s Half Note in Fort Collins from 7-10 p.m. While this is a private event the good news is that Red Hoptober should be on its way very soon.

David Walker co-founder of Firestone Walker stopped by the Mayor of Old Town, one of the best beer bars in America, earlier this week for a special 15th Anniversary tapping. While there, Walker proclaimed that Fort Collins was the future of craft beer.

Avery Brewing Company will be hosting a release party for their 2012 The Beast. This event will include a 3-year vertical tasting of their Grand Cru style Demon of Ale series, as well as a small dish pairing. http://www.facebook.com/events/384468098274972/

Avery will also celebrate their 19th Anniversary Party August 5 at noon. The event will feature a visit to the Barrel-Aging Cellar for tapping of five of their rarest batches as wells a BBQ pig roast.

Our friends over at Denver Off the Wagon wrote up a great piece previewing Denver Beer Company’s 1 Year Anniversary Party which will take place August 11 from 2-9 p.m.

Around the rest of the country, New Glarus in Wisconsin is settling into their new 12,000 square foot warehouse. Hopefully that means more Raspberry Tart for everyone.

Great Lakes Brewing Company released their Christmas Ale as part of Christmas in July.

And the Oregon Brewer’s Festival is current taking place this weekend in Portland, Oregon. Our writer Scott Hoffman is on the scene and will have a recap upon his return.
