Stay off of the internet on Tuesday. Don’t log on at all (unless it’s for PorchDrinking.com). On the day of the 2012 election, you know what the internet and social media sites are going to offer – a bunch of crap you really don’t want to deal with.
Over the last few months, you’ve seen the signs – friends posting political memes, bad jokes about candidates, and turning their Facebook walls into forums on the merits of a balanced approach to fiscal policy…
It’s all coming to a head Tuesday. So don’t bother getting sucked into it. We at PorchDrinking have you covered, anyway. Here is everything social media has to offer tomorrow. We’ve compiled it all ahead of time so you don’t have to deal with it.
Go vote, and don’t tweet about it.
12pm-5pm Eastern…
Everyone feels the election day spirit. People are doing their civic duty by going to their local polling place and making their choice. Some general eye-rollers and people quick to correct one another, but it’s pretty mild at this point.
5pm-8pm Eastern…
People have voted, and now they just want to know the winner. They’re getting a bit restless, and they’re in no mood to hear from people who disagree with them. They’re saying stupid things, making their leanings more apparent (one girl even posts an Instagram photo of her ballot), and are getting at each other’s throats.
8pm-11pm Eastern…
It’s getting late, and none of the networks can determine a winner. Both candidates win some small states, but the big swing states are too close to call, and both Obama and Romney are closing in on 270 electoral votes. People are getting crazy.
