Roundtable Discussion: 6er for a First Date

Roundtable Discussion: 6er for a First Date

It’s summertime, and with summertime comes summer lovin’. There’s nothing like opening a nice, cold six-pack on a hot summer day. Let’s say you’re in charge of buying a six-pack for a first date. What would you bring to impress the girl/guy?

Jason: I would bring something local with broad appeal that way I could suggest going to the brewery/tasting room on the second date. For Lexington it would be a West 6th Amber.

Lauren: A mix 6-pack from Wilburs. Spread things out between color and bitterness. I want my guy to have an adventurous pallet, just like mine.

Justin: My 6-pack would be a wide selection of beers. It would contain a mix of 330 mL and 12 oz bottles. De Ranke Saison de Dottignies, Serafijn Grand Cru, Cover des Jacobins, Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, Bear Republic Racer 5 and New Gladys Spotted Cow. If she knew beer, then she would melt just at the sight of it.

Cory: Great Divide Orabelle. A Belgian-style Tripel that packs bunches of orange and coriander into the pour. It’s got a great mouth-feel while still being smooth and dry on the finish.

Nate: That’s what she said. Or he. I’m progressive.

Justin: Nate FTW.

Erin: I posed this question to my roommate, Sarah, and she would go with a 22 oz of Dogfish Head Rhizing Bines. I will +1 her suggestion! I love this beer—it’s a great conversation piece—and the 22 oz bottle encourages lots of sharing.

Nate: In honor of the Chicagoans, I’d bring a 6-pack of Gumballhead. Cause my lady loves receiving Gumballhead.

Justin: I see what you did there.
