Summer Movie Preview: Part Two

Summer Movie Preview: Part Two
admin

Earlier this year we brought you our Summer Movie Preview for the first half of the season.  Here’s our second part in the series replete with summer blockbusters that you should check out, and a few you might want to pass on.

July 5

Despicable Me 2

Lone Ranger

What better way to celebrate our nation’s birth than a slightly (or really overtly) racist portrayal of those we stole it from? Yay America!

The Way Way Back

This looks adorable, has amazing people, and I’ve never heard of it. This looks like a delightful way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon.

July 12

Grown Ups 2

Just watching the trailer made me nauseous- I don’t know how I would make it through the whole film should I be cursed by a wizard (that’s the only circumstance I can see myself watching this movie). I’m sad for everyone involved. Only see this if your air conditioning is broken and you have seen every other film in the entire world.

Pacific Rim

I’m not sure how it happened, but I’m pretty sure Michael Bay ‘Freaky Friday’ed himself in Guillmo Del Toro’s body. That’s the only way to explain this film. I still have every intention of seeing it. But come on.

July 19

Turbo

So Dreamworks made a whole film out of that one small part of the Monsters University trailer. And what is the point of Ryan Reynolds if I can’t see his face and abs?
Girl Most Likely

The first trailer I watched did not make it apparent that Darren Criss was a random and kind of
made it seem like they were half- or step-siblings. So that was creepy.

R.I.P.D

Arguably, they are using Ryan Reynolds as God intended (allowing us to see his face and hopefully abs) but…um….this seems….not good.

July 26

The To-Do List

The Wolverine

August 2

Cockneys Vs. Zombies

Then nothing interesting happens until the best movie of the summer on August 23:
