Welcome back to another installment of PorchDrinking’s Weekly Denver Beer Beat. The Denver Beat brings news of openings, releases, dinners, anniversaries, etc.

Wednesday, June 25

River North Brewery (Fivepoints/Ballpark) – For this week’s Wayward Wednesday, River North Brewery will showcase two pilot batches of their summer seasonal Tripel. These will be tap at the same time to differentiate them side-by-side, so you can tell them your favorite! Only five gallons of each, first pours are starting at 3pm.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Southeast Denver) – June is “Fruit Beer Cask Month” at Copper Kettle. Each Wednesday this month, they will feature a different beer highlighting a different fruit. This week’s fruit firkin is a Blueberry Hefeweizen. BLUEBERRIES Y’ALL! This German style wheat has fresh blueberries added to give it a sweet flavor on a style you all have been asking for! This one is sure to go quick!!

Hops & Pie Artisan Pizzeria and Craft Brew Taproom (Berkeley) – Hops and Pie’s Wednesday special is $2 Craft Can Night from 5pm to close. Also, the Artisan Sandwich of the Week is a Maryland style crab cake, with avocado, apple-wood smoked bacon, heirloom tomato, romaine, and caper remoulade on a griddled house roll!!!

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) – At 5pm, High Hops Brewery taps a firkin of “BLager”, a black lager. Food available from Bedrock BBQ folks.

Giggling Grizzly (Union Station/LoDo) – Goose Island’s Migration week hosts a Tap Takeover at the http://www.giggling-grizzly.com/Giggling Grizzly. Grab some Midwest brews from 6pm – 9pm!

38 State Brewing Co (Littleton) – Swing by the brewery and sign up for their Inaugural CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT taking place at the brewery later this month. Prizes include taproom credit, with the winning team fetching up to $100! Two players to each team. Qualifying Rounds begin Wed. & Thurs., June 25-26 at 6:00pm, with the Final Round starting at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 28th.

USA vs Germany World Cup Soccer – Cheer on the USA team on Thursday, June 26 10am MDT – Check your local brewery for special taproom hours today.

Station 26 Brewing Co (Denver) – The brewery will be open early on Thursday at 9:45am for the USA v Germany soccer game. Then stick around until 4pm when they will tap a Cinnamon Orange IPA No. 1 firkin.

Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) – The Mile High Business Alliance will host the launch of the “Denver Beer Guide” at Our Mutual Friend this Thursday, June 26th from 6pm to 8pm. This guide was created to help promote “Drink Local First”. Come sample locally crafted beers using ingredients sources from local producers. The first 50 people to come join the party and show their event registration email will receive a free beer courtesy of Mile High Business Alliance. RSVP Now!

Jimmy’s Urban Bar and Grill (Union Station/LoDo) – Goose Island’s Migration week continues with a Tap Takeover at Jimmy’s. Grab some Midwest brews from 6pm – 9pm!

Friday, June 27

Stem Ciders (Five Points) – 8pm – This month Stem Ciders hosts their good friends, Thunder and Rain. As always, the show is FREE so come on in, grab some food, a glass of cider and check out a great band!

Avery Brewing (Boulder) – Tickets to their anniversary party go on sale Friday, June 27th at 9am online at www.avery21.eventbrite.com and at 11am in the Avery Tap Room. Tickets are $40 adv/$45 day of and include beer, live music, and good times! Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) – The release date for their upcoming beer “The Last Unicorn” is Friday, June 27th. This is a big (9.0% ABV) tart cherry-raspberry lambic and will be on tap and in bottles.

Our Mutual Friend (Five Points) – Final Friday Food Truck Fiesta – 6pm – 10pm – 8 food trucks AND the Denver Fashion Truck, beer from Our Mutual Friend Malt & BrewDiebolt Brewing Company, & Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery, wine from Mile High Winery, cider from Stem Ciders, music by DJ Shawn Green, Salsa dancing lessons by Mark Reagan Salsa at 7pm, kid’s activity tents, and more! Back by popular demand, Rotary Club of Five Points will be giving away a bike as a door prize, and Chocolate Spokes Bike Studio will be on hand to accessorize it with a helmet & bike pump (and amazing chocolate).

Jake’s Brew Bar (Littleton) – Jake’s Brew Bar will host a mini tap takeover with Almanac Beer Company today as part of the San Francisco brewery’s launch in Colorado. Beers will include Farmer’s Reserve Blackberry, a 7 percent sour blonde aged with blackberries in wine barrels; Dogpatch Strawberry, a 7.5 percent sour blonde aged with strawberries in wine barrels; a 7.5 percent West Coast-style IPA; Golden Gate Gose, a 5 percent gose brewed with coriander and salt; and Honey Saison, brewed with honey and ginger root.

Renegade Brewing Company (Lincoln Park) – On Saturday, June 28 Renegade Brewing Co. will be throwing a huge block party on the 900 block of W. 9th Avenue, right in front of their brewery. They will have live music all day, some fan favorite food trucks, ice cream, and tons of beer! MaxFund No-Kill Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is even coming out with their mobile adoption van! There is no entrance fee and all beers are just $5. Renegade will be tapping some of their favorite beers of the last year as well as their usual Offensively Delicious line-up. A free bike valet will be provided by The Denver Bicycle Cafe. Illegal Pete’s (South Broadway location) – To celebrate the 1 Year Anniversary of Illegal Pete’s South Broadway, Illegal Pete’s will be celebrating with a day of music, beer, tequila, vodka, food, and good friends.
New Belgium will set up a tent whereby you can donate $10 to get pours of New Belgium drafts (until the kegs run out); they will also be making custom Illegal Pete’s/New Belgium hats. Those proceeds will benefit Chill, Burton Snowboard’s non-profit that provides opportunities for at-risk and underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through board sports. There will be raffles for a Burton Snowboard, New Belgium Brewing Schwag, Illegal Pete’s gift cards, and other goodies. Our friends at Dulce Vida Tequila will have tequila tastings. Deep Eddy will have Vodka tastings. Mile High Soul Club will be spinning records and we will the night with music from Chris Dismuke and the Gin Doctors unplugged. Do not miss this party.

Front Range Brewing Co (Lafayette) – On June 28th, Front Range Brewing Co is turning one and will throw a party to celebrate! They’re taking over the back pavilion of the Jax/Lafayette Marketplace. FRBC will have three bands, seven special beer tappings, and food specials including beer cupcakes from Juliana’s Bakery, and a pig roast from Lunada. The music kicks off at noon with Big Hibiscus on the pavilion followed by Wall of Records then Ash Ganley brings it inside at 6pm. The special tappings include a nicely aged brewer’s reserve keg of Rumrunner Coffee Quad, Brandy Barrel aged Tripel, and Bourbon Barrel Aged Dopplesticke Alt, small batch Gratzer and Kentucky Common, finishing with a Tequila Barrel Saison with Brett and a Cherry Lambic. They’re only pulling off five gallons of the Saison and Lambic then letting it go for a while longer.

Fieldhouse Brewing Company (Colo. Spgs) – GRAND OPENING – The grand opening party for Fieldhouse Brewing Company will showcase several of the food trucks that will be parked at the brewery, live music from Chauncy Crandall at 7:30pm, root beer for the kids, and more. Stop by Saturday and welcome this great addition to Colorado Springs’ growing list of craft breweries in the area.

Ace Eat & Serve (Uptown) – Join Great Divide Brewing Company at Ace Eat Serve this Sunday, June 29th, to see which Denver chef will be crowned Denver Wing King at Whiskey and Wings! Tickets to the event go to benefit a great cause (Denver Housing Authority’s Youth Culinary Program) and include unlimited Great Divide beers. Whoa, right?! See you there!

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) – “Hops and Harley” will take place on June 29th in Fickel Park in downtown Berthoud, just 3 blocks west of City Star Brewing. There will be live music, food trucks, a silent auction, face painting, a photo booth, puppy mill education, great beer and more! Harley, himself, will be there along with several other puppy mill survivors who are also “spokesdogs” against puppy mills. Harley tells his story on his facebook page which currently has nearly 50,000 active fans: https://www.facebook.com/harleyfreighttraintaylor – His campaign, “Harley to the Rescue” has raised more than $150,000 for National Mill Dog Rescue to date. More information about “Hops and Harley” can be found here. This fun event is designed to not only create awareness about puppy mills, but will also be fun for the entire family. All proceeds from the event will go directly to National Mill Dog Rescue for the rescue and care of puppy mill survivors.

Monday, June 30

Tuesday, July 1

Yak & Yeti Brewpub (Arvada) – Yak and Yeti Brewpub is celebrating its buildings 150 years in its current establishment, a reputedly haunted, historic house built in 1864 in Olde Town Arvada. The restaurant is commemorating the anniversary by hosting a celebratory event on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 3pm to close. The first 150 guests will receive a complimentary pint glass filled with a special commemorative brew called 150 Pale Ale. The commemorative brew was made especially for the anniversary celebration event and is an American-style pale ale made with an Indian sugar called jaggery.

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) – Don’t forget that every Tuesday is Double Stamp Tuesday at Funkwerks. Stop in and buy a bottle to go and get your card stamped twice today. If you get 6 stamps you get a free bottle of Funkwerks beer! Mathematical!
