Collaboration is all about sharing brewing experience and technique to join the perfect ingredients. Brewers come together to decide exactly what yeast to use with what fruit, what type of malt works best with what barrel, or what hops will contribute to the perfect aroma. When done right, the effort becomes truly legendary. Grab your tickets right now. This shit will hella sell out soon!

Bottle Release: Progenitor NOIR Release @ Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Five Points/RiNo)
Time: 6:00pm
3350 Brighton Blvd, Denver, CO 80216
Crooked Stave’s set to release Progenitor NOIR this week. The new 375mL bottle release is a twist on Progenitor that will add a “fresh, resinous hop bite” to the beer and turn it into a “Dark IPA”. The new variation comes from the addition of dark malts, along with the use of Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe hops.
On Wednesday, March 11th, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project will kick off a spring full of bottle releases with a special edition of Progenitor: Progenitor NOIR.
In February of this year, Crooked Stave released Progenitor, a 6.2% ABV dry-hopped Golden Sour Ale. Progenitor NOIR is a little bit of a different take, using dark malts to create a “Dark IPA,” for lack of a better term, while still being primary fermented with Crooked Stave’s mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria.
“Sometimes it’s the small tweaks that happen in the brewery that lead to something unique and fun,” says Crooked Stave Owner/Head Brewer Chad Yakobson. “Progenitor NOIR arose from the idea that Dark IPA is tasty, so why not a sour version for the darker months we are enjoying.”
While both Progenitor and Progenitor NOIR received ample dry hopping, Progenitor NOIR was concocted to have a fresh, resinous hop bite. Thanks to great hops like Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe, Progenitor NOIR is a hoppy sour worth seeking out fresh to enjoy the full citrusy, resinous goodness!

Time: 5:30pm
1919 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202
Join Falling Rock on Thursday, March 12 at 5:30pm when they tap into The Calling from Boulevard Brewing in Kansas City, MO. The Calling, which will be available on draft and in four packs of twelve ounce bottles, is the result of several months of hard (delicious) work by Boulevard’s brewing team who sought to create an IPA with a juicy, tropical fruit aroma that leaps from the glass. A simple malt base composed solely of their two row base malt serves as a platform for giant, punchy hop flavor and aroma provided by a blend of Simcoe, Bravo, Topaz, Cascade, Mosaic, Equinox, Galaxy, and Amarillo hops. Read that sentence again. We are not messing around here, folks. The Calling also receives an addition of lemon peel during the last five minutes of the boil to add an extra citrusy punch. At 8.5 ABV and 75 IBU, The Calling is the IPA they knew they had to brew.

This is the time of year when all of the hop heads go crazy. Of course, Elite Brands is referring to the release of Pliny the Younger by Russian River. Vinny and Natalie Cilurzo, the owners of Russian River, have been using their beers as a way to fund raise for 10 years through their ‘All Hopped Up For A Cure’ event. This sense of charity inspired Elite Brands, a Colorado-based distributor, to do the same. They decided the best way to do this was to take advantage of the Pliny madness and donate 100% of their profits to Sense of Security, a breast cancer support center. They also asked retailers to join in. The finals results were tallied up and $4,756.00 is now going directly to Sense of Security. The participating retailers included Falling Rock Tap House, Cheeky Monk, Back Country Pizza & Tap House, Freshcraft, World of Beer – Cherry Creek, Hops & Pie, Euclid Hall, Choice City, The Mayor of Old Town, Oskar Blues, and Lucky Pie – Louisville. Once again, hop heads are proving that we can solve the world’s problems through craft beer.
If you were unable to participate in this year’s Pliny The Younger Fundraiser but would still like to support the cause and donate to Sense of Security, please visit www.senseofsecurity.org for more information.

Like Craft Brew? Like Barbeque? Want to explore RiNo, home to a host of breweries including Epic, Mockery, Crooked Stave, Our Mutual Friend, River North and the upcoming Great Divide campus? Then this is the group for you.
This group is open to men and women. The group will meet on a quarterly basis at Brew n Q, a homebrew and barbeque supply shop also located in the heart of the RiNo district. Each meeting will consist of two parts: an opening barbeque cooking basics discussion and creation of a generous taster of something cooked off the barbeque. Then the group will move to one of the nearby taprooms to enjoy a brew that is paired with what they just created. Once at the brewery, the group will talk with brewery staff, enjoy a brew tour and see how their barbeque pairs with the brewery’s beer.
The first event starts at Brew n Q where you’ll get an orientation to the brew shop and enjoy a discussion about how to make succulent, pulled pork sandwiches. Sandwiches will be generous, but taster-sized, and then you’ll take them over to Mockery Brewing to enjoy a brew tour and see how their beer pairs with the food.
Ticket prices are $20.00 and include a sandwich, barbeque discussion, and your first pint at Mockery, craft beer discussion and brewing tour, gratuity, tax and ticket processing charges. At the request of the homebrew shop, this event is also a fundraiser for ALS and $6.50 of each ticket will be donated to the non-profit. Tickets are available here.
