O’Fallon Brewery | 5 Day IPA
ABV: 6.1%
IBU: 66
O’Fallon Brewery somehow manages to fly under my radar which is odd considering how tasty their beers are, including this 5 Day IPA. I’ve been on an IPA kick lately and have been getting rather snooty in my inspection of the labels to make sure it’s super fresh. This is extra ridiculous since I don’t recall what the bottled on date for this batch was. But I do recall that it was pretty damn good.
It pours a deep golden color with a very fluffy head. I didn’t get any over the top bitterness on the nose which was confirmed with my first taste. Definitely malty up front with a pleasant lingering bitterness on the finish. I would call it balanced and easy to drink, especially if you’re not fond of lip puckering hoppiness.
The “5 Day” part of the name has to do with the brew being dry hopped for 5 extra days. I don’t actually know what dry hopping means but I like it. In fact, I found myself consuming it in huge gulps with a big grin on my face. Not snooty at all. Just like the beer.
