Oktoberfest season is too short for many of us, with not enough time to savor the brews among the leaves and sweaters. Solution: Northern Virginia’s Rustico will host its fourth annual Novemberfest on Nov. 7.

This was actually one of the first beer festivals I went to — ever — and of course, one of the first in the DC area, so it has a special place in my festival circuit. Rustico is a casual, American restaurant known for its pizzas and its beer list. Notably, its beer director is Greg Engert, known for driving national attention to the greater DC area’s beer pourings.

There will be food (fried chicken, BBQ pork sandwiches), bluegrass and even wine, from Virginia’s Barboursville Vineyards.

What’s exciting about Novemberfest is that is brings some of the greatest Virginia breweries up north, putting pours into the hands of an eager audience.
