If you’re like me, the very first thing that comes to mind with Bout Damn Time is, “Why the name?” So, I asked 4 Noses Brewing Co. this very question. And it turns out, the answer is pretty simple.

4 Noses is about to celebrate two years of brewing tasty beers from their location in Broomfield, CO. In that time, they’ve turned out countless concoctions to serve in their taproom, and have canned a dozen different styles for distribution. But there’s one style that had been missing: American IPA. With so many American IPAs on the market, the brewery wanted to make sure they’d perfected their recipe before canning it. And now that they finally have, fans of 4 Noses have had the same collective response: ’bout damn time.

It was worth the wait.

Bout Damn Time pours a light golden color, immediately sending messages to your brain that this is the kind of crisp American IPA you’re hoping for. The message comes through loud and clear when you get that first hint of the aroma. Packed with heavy citrus, pine, and notes of tropical pineapple and mango, it’s exactly what you want out of a West-Coast-inspired American IPA.

The flavor features all the same notes as the aroma, so while that first sip isn’t a surprise, it’s definitely a delight. The beer is bright and refreshing, delivering a major punch of hops without being overly bitter. A simple malt bill balances out this beer just enough so that the hops are definitely the main attraction without overpowering the senses. It’s summer in a can.

I highly recommend snagging a six-pack of Bout Damn Time for your next summer BBQ (or any other excuse to drink a great beer). And if you get a chance to visit their taproom in Broomfield —right between Denver and Boulder — I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. In fact, I know you won’t be.
