Tomorrow, Burial Beer Co. (Asheville, NC) will release Seasoned Skillet Donut Stout for the second consecutive year and A Paranormal Vibe Double IPA (DIPA) – the latest addition to their DIPA Earth Series. This comes as Asheville Beer Week announces last call for the week’s celebratory and beer-centric events.

To commemorate Burial Beer Co.’s beginnings and all their loyal fans that make everything they do possible, the brewers decided last year to brew a special barrel aged beer to release once a year during Asheville Beer Week. In a press release, co-founder Jess Reiser expresses, “Skillet Donut Stout was on tap when we first opened our doors four years ago. It was one of only six beers we had available. To us, this beer represents a journey from that day, to our first canned beer to our biggest bottle release to-date. It reminds us of the support we have been fortunate to have since day one. So, it only makes sense to barrel-age [Skillet Donut Stout] and release it once a year during [Asheville] Beer Week as a reminder of those first days and to pay homage to the people who have supported us through the years.”

Seasoned Skillet is a bourbon barrel-aged version of their famous Skillet Donut Stout. If you’re notfamiliar with Skillet Donut Stout, it is an imperial oatmeal stout brewed with coffee, lactose and molasses sugar – truly the best part of a complete breakfast. Burial Beer Co. uses coffee sourced from Counter Culture Coffee – specifically, a blend of their Big Trouble and Hologram brands – to brew the stout. Now, imagine that poured into your glass after resting in bourbon barrels – truly the BETTER part of a complete breakfast.

Also on the menu for this year is Burial’s newest DIPA, A Paranormal Vibe, brewed under the Earth As We Know It series. This series is a recently launched series that focuses on the up and coming style of hazy IPAs.  Reiser explains, “we’ve coined the series ‘Earth As We Know It’ because, for us, one the things that drew us into the craft beer world was that beer has a story. We tell our

story through the liquid; through the art and the people behind it all.” She continues, “Earth As We Know It tells a story of the cycle of life -starting with death, into the afterlife through the re-creation of earth and humanity. Style wise, we continue to evolve as brewers and as a brand – these IPAs represent a unique take on a style that is saturated in today’s market.” A Paranormal Vibe features Citra, Simcoe, Centennial and Mandarina hops with a touch of Simcoe Lupulin powder.

Both beers, Seasoned Skillet and A Paranormal Vibe, will be available at Burial Beer Co.’s brewery on South Slope in Asheville, NC on June 3, 2017. Expect A LOT of beer enthusiasts to be there. Last year’s release had approximately 300 people in attendance. Burial has ramped up production for this year, but they are still expecting a big turn out. Get there early and remember to enjoy yourself!
