Canadian Brewery Turns 6-Pack Box into Father’s Day Greeting Card

Canadian Brewery Turns 6-Pack Box into Father’s Day Greeting Card

While many dads will likely receive beer from their adult-aged children this weekend in celebration of Father’s Day, one Calgary-based brewery is taking the concept of dad-beers to the next level. Ryan and Collin Mortson, co-founders of Best of Kin Brewing recently released Dad Beer, a Kolsch-style Lagered Ale, to honor their late father.

“This is the beer our dad would’ve kept stocked in his mini-fridge to enjoy after a long day’s work. It’s a clean drinking, thirst-quenching lagered ale based on a traditional recipe,” said the head of brewing operations, Collin Mortson.

In addition to celebrating the life of their late father, the Mortson brothers teamed up with local independent strategy, design, and advertising firm, Conflict Creates to transform the packaging of the limited run of 6-packs to double as a Father’s Day greeting card, or as the brewery calls them “greeting cans”.

“Spending time with friends and family is a gift,” says co-founder Ryan Mortson. “If we can encourage people to do that a little more, while they can, especially after a pandemic, we’ll have achieved our goal.”

The exterior inscription of the packaging reads “Happy Father’s Day to the DAD who has everything except a 6-pack”.

Unfortunately for beer fans, these limited edition six-packs are currently only available for purchase at the Calgary-based brewery.
