Boys Are From Märzen Podcast | Danielle D’Alessandro Illinois Craft Brewers Guild
In Episode 24 of the “Boys Are From Märzen” podcast, Kindsey Bernhard is joined by Danielle D’Alessandro, executive director of the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild.
D’Alessandro was hired as the executive director of the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild in September 2016, and currently has over 200 brewery members in the Guild.
The Illinois Craft Brewers Guild focuses its efforts on three primary areas: Legislative and regulatory advocacy, education and promotion of its breweries.
D’Alessandro’s previous experience in government and lobbying made her the ideal choice to become the executive director of the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild in 2016. She was involved in the passing of the legislation to allow Illinois breweries to self-distribute in 2011, which is key to breweries success 10 years ago and to this day.
And, due to all her hard work in advocating for Illinois breweries, D’Alessandro was awarded the F.X. Matt Defense of the Industry Award by the Brewers Association in 2019. This award is given to someone who is a ” tireless and outspoken champion for the small brewing industry.”
From being a part of helping pass self-distribution to guiding her breweries during a global, D’Alessandro has done nothing but help the breweries in Illinois grow and prosper.

In this episode, Kindsey and Danielle discuss her four years as the executive director of the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, leading over 200 breweries during a pandemic, all things Illinois beer and why she felt it was important for the Guild to be vocal on the Black Lives Matter movement.
