In episode 75 of the PorchCast, we welcome Julia Herz, former Craft Beer Program Director for the Brewers Association and Publisher of CraftBeer.com who recently launched HerzMuses Enterprises, LLC, a consulting firm for craft breweries around the country and globe.

We spoke with Julia about what lies next for her new enterprise and the types of brewery clients she is excited about most. We talked about her two-week road trip across the country and the moments of clarity she gleamed, and subsequently, Korey invited Julia to take peyote.

Julia also touched on time spent working for the Brewers Association (BA) and particularly her work with pairing beer with food. Herz also offered thoughts on the role of the BA in diversity and inclusion as well as reprimanding breweries that don’t uphold those inclusive standards.

Finally, we also talked about the state of beer journalism as well as recent developments with Boulevard Brewing, Boulder Beer’s relaunch, and the Firestone Walker Brewmaster’s Reserve program.
