Boys Are From Märzen Podcast | Sheila Garcia Hold Out Brewing

Boys Are From Märzen Ep. 36: Sheila Garcia
Kindsey Bernhard

In Episode 36 of the “Boys Are From Märzen” podcast, Kindsey Bernhard converses with Sheila Garcia, the Marketing & Hospitality Manager at Hold Out Brewing, the Austin Chapter Co-Leader of the Pink Boots Society and is a Board Member of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild.

Sheila Garcia began her career in craft beer at Hops & Grain Brewing as the Chief Communications Officer. After four years with Hops & Grain, Garcia began working for Hold Out Brewing, which opened in May 2020. She is now the Marketing & Hospitality Manager.

Garcia is the Austin Chapter Co-Leader of the Pink Boots Society. For this year’s Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day, Hold Out Brewing brewed four different styles of beers to create the ultimate mix four-pack. Along with Garcia, Lindsay O’Rourke, Executive Pastry Chef at Hold Out Brewing and Better Half Bar, and Stephanie Duran, previous Sous Chef at Better Half Bar (currently with Suerte), each selected their own recipe and beer to brew using the Pink Boots blend from Yakima Chief Hops. Garcia brewed a West Coast IPA; O’Rourke brewed an Irish Red Ale; Duran brewed a hoppy Kölsch and Dickens brewed a Summer Stout.

In addition to work with Hold Out Brewing and the Austin Chapter of the Pink Boots Society, Garcia was just elected into the Board of Directors for the Texas Craft Brewers Guild. She is also on the Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee Co-Chair. Garcia hopes to encourage diversity and inclusion in the Texas craft beer industry, which can be difficult outside the major metro cities in Texas.

In this episode, Kindsey and Sheila discuss working for a brewery that opened during a pandemic; Hold Out Brewing’s Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day; the Austin Chapter of the Pink Boots Society, her work with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild and much more.
