New Belgium Brewing + Samuel Adams | Love Conquers Ale

New Belgium Brewing + Samuel Adams | Love Conquers Ale
Darren Cockrell

Pride month is well under way and the time to celebrate love and inclusion is upon us. In celebration, New Belgium Brewing (Fort Collins, CO) and Samuel Adams (Boston, MA) have released a limited series collaboration ale like no other. Love Conquers Ale is a Gose-style ale brewed with a unique mix of ingredients: coriander, sea salt, basil-infused lime peel, and blackberries.

As important as a message on its own can be, this limited release takes advocacy a step further; both breweries will donate 100% of the purchase price directly to GLAAD. For over 30 years as an organization, GLAAD has fought to “shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change” by pushing to change the way the media and the public portray the LGBTQ community. This undertaking has been no small task, and every bit of support towards the organization will aid in the cause.

Love Conquers Ale touts a flashy rainbow label, and doesn’t disappoint as it pours the color of a bright berry smoothie. This summery stunner has a gentle smell of strawberry rhubarb pie, mojitos and summer breeze. The toaste is vibrant and tart, hinting at tart cherry and daiquiris, with a smooth and easy mouthfeel. The coriander and sea salt combo mild the tart lime and blackberry in the way that a good salt rim mellows a margarita on a hot day. Suggested pairings are burgers on the grill, summer salads, or a walk on the beach. Coming in at a smashable 4.5% ABV, this might be the perfect summer Gose if you can get your hands n one before they are gone.
