In Episode 60 of the “Boys Are From Märzen” podcast, Kindsey Bernhard is joined by LaTroya Butts, brewer at Five Wits Brewing in Chattanooga, TN.

LaTroya “LT” Butts’ passion for craft beer began in Savannah, GA, when after she frequented a beer bar next to her job. This newfound passion led her to Colorado and North Carolina where she began her career in production brewing. After six years, she returned to her hometown of Chattanooga and started with Five Wits Brewing.

Butts was named a Michael James Jackson Foundation Sir Geoff Palmer Scholarship Award for Brewing recipient in March. This award helps provide scholarships for technical education in brewing and distilling for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) in the beverage industries. She applied and completed The Siebel Institute of Technology Concise Course in Brewing Technology earlier this year.
