Event Preview | Cape Fear Craft & Cuisine
Craft Beer Week is upon us! That is, if you’re near Wilmington, North Carolina. The Cape Fear Craft Beer Alliance, through their Craft on the Coast initiative, is continuing the annual, week-long event. And, this weekend, craft beer fans can attend the unique Cape Fear Craft & Cuisine, held at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
The Cape Fear Craft Beer Alliance has two goals: (1) to spread awareness of the exploding Wilmington craft beer scene and (2) to attract craft beer tourism. It must be working, because the scene in Wilmington really is blowing up. One look at a Wilmington Ale Trail map shows about 20 individual breweries and 11 bars or bottle shops. That’s a whopping 31 entities dedicated to craft beer in the greater Cape Fear area. And we haven’t even talked about the restaurants.
To experience it all together – food, drink and fun – consider attending the Cape Fear Craft & Cuisine. The event is held on Saturday, April 2, from 7-10 pm at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. You can buy tickets here for $90 plus about $4 in fees. So, for under $100, you get:
- Admission to the beautiful aquarium
- A souvenir glass
- 20 pairings of local food and craft beer
- Access to the chefs and brewers who collaborated on the pairing
If you extend your stay, you can partake in the local Wooden Nickel program. A Craft on the Coast Wooden Nickel nets you any beer (or product valued at $6) at any one of the 18 locations currently participating in the program. Between breweries, you can stroll along the riverwalk, see the Wilmington sites via a horse-drawn carriage and navigate the waters on any of several cruises and riverboat tours.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, look no farther than Wilmington, North Carolina. It promises to be delicious!
