Firestone Walker Debuts Double Hopnosis Imperial Cold IPA in 19.2oz Cans

Firestone Walker is doubling down on its wildly popular Hopnosis brand by introducing a bigger, more hop-forward Imperial Cold IPA version appropriately dubbed Double Hopnosis.

Inspired by the robust blast of hoppiness associated with West Coast IPAs, while still finishing crisp and clean through the use of Firestone Walker’s house lager yeast, Double Hopnosis takes the familiarity of its iconic Hopnosis brand up a notch at 8.3% ABV.

This supercharged evolution of Hopnosis features its predecessor’s familiar tropical fruit and citrus profile with nearly five pounds of hops per barrel featuring Mosaic Cryo Hops® as well as Citra, Chinook and Vic Secret.

“Double Hopnosis is brewed with our favorite emerging hops from the Pacific Northwest and Southern Hemisphere, then extravagantly double dry-hopped with Cryo Hops® to take the flavors and mouthfeel to the next level,” said Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “We call this our new-school rendition of a classic imperial West Coast IPA.”

The use of cryohops in both Hopnosis and Double Hopnosis plays a crucial role in imparting that potent hop profile. Cyro hops are created by taking a concentrated form of lupulin from whole-leaf hops, which contains pure resins for bitterness and aromatic oils. Those cryo hops combined with a propriety hopping technique drives greater tropical thoils to the forefront helping to fuel a truly hop-forward experience reminiscent of classic West Coast IPAs.

“Cryo Hops® play the same role in Double Hopnosis as they do in the original Hopnosis: provide intense hop aroma and flavor with incredible integration, enabling us to make a hop-forward beer that is low in bitterness, super smooth, and delicious,” Brynildson said.

“Double Hopnosis has roots in the original era of West Coast imperial IPAs while showcasing the Cold IPA style,” Brynildson said. “The overall experience is modernized by a lower impression of bitterness, a higher rate of tropical character and a new achievement of balance and drinkability.”

Double Hopnosis is now available across all Firestone Walker markets in 19.2oz cans.
