WestFax has officially opened its second location, located in Colorado Springs! Be sure to stop by to check out the great beers and awesome space!

We caught up with Anthony Martuscello, founder of WestFax, to talk through the recent developments, including expansion into the Colorado Springs community. Anthony and his wife, Jackie Martuscello, are co-owners of WestFax and are excited for what’s on the horizon for the growing company.

Aspirations for Brewing… and Colorado

People find the craft beer scene in all sorts of unique ways, and Anthony’s story is no different. “While living in Scranton [Pennsylvania] my friends and I would go to a restaurant named Cooper’s Seafood,” he said. “They had an expansive draft and bottle list as well as a passport program. We were all determined to get our names on the wall. To do so, we had to drink 250 unique beers. That forced me to try all sorts of beers from the US and around the world. Shortly after that I discovered a local homebrew shop and started making my own.”

After visiting friends who living in Colorado, New York natives Anthony and Jackie fell in love with the area. They found jobs and moved across the country to Denver.

With a focus on IPAs, both hazy and clear, and modern and traditional Lagers, WestFax Brewing Company originally opened in Lakewood, Colorado (For a trip down memory lane, check out our brewery preview article from 2016.) The COVID pandemic brought challenges, of course, but it also encouraged WestFax to expand its distribution activity to still get the tasty brews into the hands (and mouths) of its customers.

Anthony had been looking for a way to expand the WestFax footprint, originally looking for a second location in the South Metro area of Denver. One sleepless night, he came across a location in Colorado Springs. This location, originally to be the home of a second WeldWerks location, was on the market. It was a great location with a west-facing patio, ideal for their namesake. After touring the space, Anthony saw the huge potential of the space and finished construction to make it a true WestFax home. The spot is nestled in the foothills of the mountains with a vibrant patio area and spacious rooftop seating, perfect for enjoying a beer or two.

Exciting Opportunities

Anthony is excited to bring WestFax brews closer than ever to the Colorado Springs community, including visitors to nearby trails, hikes and other attractions. WestFax engages patrons with their brand and the beer produced, and a new community will only spark new creativity. In fact, the Springs inspired a new brew releasing this weekend — Hop Garden, a double dry-hopped IPA.

Additionally, before opening their doors, WestFax Springs had already collaborated with fellow Springs brewery Urban Animal in the creation of the I-25 Fling, a Cold IPA released in April this year. While the WestFax Springs team is still getting settled, Anthony has begun to think of other new opportunities this location will bring. Stay tuned as those ideas become realities.
