What We’re Drinking | May 17, 2019
May 17, 2019 | Constance Del RioMan, this year is just flying by! I don’t know if it’s ’cause “we’re having fun” or ’cause we’ve all been so busy, but damn…here we are–May 17! Our team has been busy little bees churning out amazing content and breaking news like the Boston Beer and Dogfish Merger, all while tending to their full-time jobs, families and friends. I think that deserves a beer, or three and that is what we did! Sit back and check out how we rewarded ourselves for kicking ass–here is what we’re drinking!
What We’re Drinking | April 19, 2019
April 19, 2019 | Constance Del RioIt’s been a busy start to spring, and our staff has been equally as busy attending the Craft Brewers Conference, family events, beer festivals and so much more. I really can’t believe we are already in mid-April–where did the time go?! Get comfy and see what we’re drinking!
East Brother Beer Co. | Oatmeal Stout
April 9, 2019 | Constance Del RioIn a world filled with outlandish new beer style varieties, sometimes you just want a classic style: something without all the bells and double dry-hopping. After a long day, no matter the season or temperature, a stout sounds like a nice way to end my evening. I escaped my Oakland/Berkeley/Hayward/San Leandro bubble the other weekend and made my way up to Richmond (it’s really not that “far”) and I was a happy lady! East Brother Beer Co. is nestled over by Point Richmond and has the classic beer style game down. That’s their schtick: classic styles done well.
What We’re Drinking | March 29, 2019
March 29, 2019 | Constance Del RioAs we bid farewell to March and hello to April, we here at PorchDrinking have had our hands full with some amazing events, vacation, bad weather and lots more. Nothing soothes the soul of a craft beer blogger more than a craft beer…am I wrong?! Oh, and happy opening day to all! Here’s what we’re drinking–play ball!
The Rare Barrel & Side Project Brewing | Avec des Amis
March 28, 2019 | Constance Del RioWith spring fast approaching I find myself looking for stone fruit, both the actual fruit and in beer! The Rare Barrel collaborated with Side Project Brewing to bring about a beacon that spring is finally here. I was able to speak with Alex Wallash, founder of The Rare Barrel, about this collaboration brew and he provided some insight to the making of Avec des Amis.
What We’re Drinking | March 15, 2019
March 15, 2019 | Constance Del RioYou guys, we made it!! The clocks have sprung forward and I think I am finally getting used to the “time change.” Today I walked our puppers in flip flops–yes, flip flops!! Thank you spring for raining down sunshine instead of water in the Bay Area!! Sadly, the whole country isn’t sharing these feelings as Colorado is dealing with a literal blizzard! Where ever you are, be safe this weekend as many people around the States celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with copious amounts of green beer (or Irish beer) and corned beef. Grab a cold one, or Pedialyte, and see what we’re drinking.
What We’re Drinking | March 1, 2019
March 2, 2019 | Constance Del RioWhere did the time go?! How is it already March?! I’m always the one that forgets February is a “short” month (28 versus 30 days) so I totally forgot to throw our article together and here we are – Saturday! I promise to do better guys but today is my Thursday (yay Industry week) so I am now off to provide tours of the brewery where I work. Grab a cold beer and see what we’re drinking.

San Francisco Beer Week | Can’t-Miss Events February 5-10
February 5, 2019 | Constance Del RioHow are y’all doing? I am hoping San Francisco Beer Week (SFBW) hasn’t been too rough: We still have six days to go! SFBW is an amazing craft brewer’s guild event marathon with multiple events all over the greater San Francisco Bay area. The five guilds (San Francisco, East Bay, Silicon Valley, Coast and North Bay) gather together for tap takeovers, collaboration releases, food pairing events and many other types of fun times.
Working in the industry, there are two moods when you see SFBW approaching: Either you are hella pumped or you start chugging coconut water! Below are some can’t-miss events for the rest of the week. Get pumped and honestly—I suggest stocking up on coconut water.

Untitled Art Brewing Angry Chair Brewing Collaboration | Gas Station Coffee Imperial Stout
December 31, 2018 | Constance Del RioIt’s the holiday season and everyone is buzzing around trying to find the best beer to share with friends and family. Most of us are also traveling to visit family—which means planes, trains and automobiles (like the movie, but hopefully less crazy). I personally took Amtrak to Grand Junction, Colorado, to visit family and it was great! What I did miss was the gas station coffee during pit stops. Thankfully, I was able to get the flavor without the hectic drive from California to Colorado!
What We’re Drinking | December 21, 2018
December 21, 2018 | Constance Del RioI don’t know about you, but it has been one hell of a week! With our upcoming train trip to Colorado to spend Christmas with my family, everything has been a blur! I literally thought Wednesday was Thursday and tapped our writers for their last submissions for this article, like “get them in now so I can post this up!” Whomp Whomp! But today is Friday for real and boy can I really use a cold one. Check out all the festive brews out team is downing, this is What We’re Drinking!
Firestone Walker | Champs de Fraises (2017)
December 14, 2018 | Constance Del RioFirestone Walker is known for creating some awesome brews, from the Luponic Distortion IPA series to Velvet Merkin, at their Paso Robles brewery. I feel that their Barrelworks beers can be overlooked at times, like the Champs de Fraises. I will be the first to say it took me a while to get down with wild ales, always thinking they would turn out a funky “gym sock” Belgian nose. Obviously, I had a lot to learn! Nowadays, wild ales are my jam and I seek out the opportunity to try these beauties.
