Tony Stewart Racing Tragedy Could Have Been Avoided
August 18, 2014 | Mike ZollerWhen you put a lot of cars on a small track and race them at high speeds the chance for horrific injuries or even death are a real possibility. Since the 1940s there have been 68 driver deaths on the track in the whole slew of NASCAR events. However, what happened on Saturday could have and should have been prevented.
Sports | The Fall of Tiger
July 28, 2014 | Mike ZollerDespite not winning a major since 2008, Tiger Woods still commands the golfing world’s headlines. Despite Woods shooting his worst four-round score in a major for his career last weekend, we still talk about him. We’ll never stop talking about Woods as long as he plays golf, but his domination of the sport is clearly over… for now.
Cautious Optimism for Cubs Fans
June 23, 2014 | Mike ZollerHope. Excitement. Optimism. These are words I haven’t used when talking about the Cubs for the past few seasons, but I’m ready to use them now.
Silver Handles Donald Sterling Incident Perfectly
April 29, 2014 | Mike ZollerAdam Silver’s first big controversy as NBA commissioner was lobbed to him like a softball. Make no mistake – he hit this one out of the park. The lifetime ban for Donald Sterling was the correct decision and while we can’t just forget what he said, the first steps to move on after this incident have been taken.
Embrace MLB Instant Replay – It’s Here to Stay
April 14, 2014 | Mike ZollerAh, baseball is back. I love America’s pastime. From the crack of the bat to the pop of the mitt to the stoppage in play because of an official review – baseball is great. For the first time ever instant replay is being used throughout MLB stadiums and everyone has their own opinion on whether it’s good for the game. While there have to be some tweaks to the system, and players will have to change the way they play the game in some instances, I think instant replay is a great thing for baseball and will only improve.

Undefeated but Untested
February 24, 2014 | Mike ZollerHave you heard? There is only one unbeaten team left in Division-I men’s basketball this season. It’s the mighty Wichita State Shockers from the Missouri Valley Conference. The Shockers have been dominant this season. They rolled through their non-conference schedule and have had little resistance during their conference slate. They are currently ranked #2 in the country. If they keep this up they will most likely earn a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. But despite their ranking and all of these wins, I’m not sold on the Shockers just yet.
Five Winter Olympic Sports That Scare Me To Death
February 17, 2014 | Mike ZollerI know I might draw some ire right off the bat with this statement, but I think the Winter Olympics are more exciting to watch than the Summer Olympics. There are so many more obscure and untraditional events during the winter that you only see once every four years. Don’t get me wrong, I love the summer games as well, but it consists of events you’re much more likely to see when the Olympics aren’t going on.

How to Fix the NBA
November 4, 2013 | Mike Zoller 3With the NBA starting last week a lot of people got excited—I wasn’t one of them. It’s not that I don’t like basketball, but of the four major sports, I just don’t get excited for professional basketball. I’m a huge fan of college basketball, so it must be something that is going on with the NBA specifically. Here are a few suggestions I’ve come up with to help improve the league.

Your #2 Fantasy Football Pick
August 27, 2013 | Mike ZollerIf you have the first pick in your fantasy football draft you’re most certainly taking Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson. There’s no one coming off a better season than him and he’s poised to have even bigger numbers this year. But if you have the second pick in the draft who do you take? Avoiding the Steroid Witch Hunt
August 26, 2013 | Mike ZollerAmericans have the first amendment, freedom of speech, it allows us to speak our mind, have opinions and challenge authority when we believe change is needed. It’s a great thing, however, there are limitations. You cannot yell fire in a crowded public area, you cannot yell obscenities in public and you can’t libel or slander someone. When former Cardinals player and radio host Jack Clark accused Albert Pujols of doing steroids he violated his first amendment right.
