Roundtable Discussion: Derby Horse Names
May 1, 2013 | Tristan ChanAs Drew cleverly noted on Monday, sometimes Derby horse names can be downright ridiculous… that and indie band names. So this week we asked our staff members if they had the chance to name their own Kentucky Derby horses, what that name would be. As per usual hilarity ensued… oh and apologize to any card carrying members of PETA.
PorchDrinking Playlist: Kentucky Derby Playlist
April 30, 2013 | Tristan ChanThe first Saturday in May is one of my favorite days of the year. The pageantry, the roses, the horses, the bourbon. Coming from the heart of horse country, the Derby has alway had a special place in my heart. So to help commemorate the 139th run for the roses I decided to put together a Kentucky Derby Playlist paying homage to my home state. And they’re OFF!

PorchDrinking Playlist: Best New Indie Playlist
April 1, 2013 | Tristan Chan 1When it comes to music, it’s all about finding the latest greatest tunes to share and impress your friends with. Over the past year we’ve done a pretty good job of finding some hidden gems, but this is probably the best compilation of amazing songs you’ll ever your ears will ever behold. And while we don’t generally get pretentious about tuneage, this is the best new indie playlist you’ll ever hear!
PorchDrinking Got Twitter Hacked
April 1, 2013 | Tristan ChanEarly this morning, in the twilight hours, PorchDrinking.com fell victim to the same salacious crimes that Burger King and Jeep had been terrorized with earlier last month. While we are deeply disturbed and saddened by these juvenile acts, we are also not ashamed to share the results of this heinous ambush. Mark my words, we will find these terrorists… and we will serve up the sweetest slice of pwnage pie they have ever tasted (thats l33tspeak for we will exact revenge).
Ultimate 6er | Retro Juice Boxes
April 1, 2013 | Tristan Chan 1Nothing says refreshment quite like a good old fashioned zero ABV retro juice boxes party. You don’t need to drink beer to quench your thirst. We’ve compiled a list of old school lunch throwbacks to hit happy hour the sober way.
One Minute Beer Review: New Belgium Oh La La
March 29, 2013 | Tristan ChanLast night I happened upon the jackpot of tap lists for a random Wednesday night. My buddy Andy was craving the sweet nectar known as Pliny the Elder and there was only one place in town that you could guarantee to have it on tap, Falling Rock. As I spied their specialty tap lists etched on 4 separate chalk boards I quickly realized that I had been swept into the perfect storm of accidental leftover tappings.
Roundtable Discussion: Thrift Shop
March 28, 2013 | Tristan ChanPorchDrinking Playlist: The Easter Bunny Playlist
March 26, 2013 | Tristan Chan 1Take a leap of faith and hop on into our Easter Bunny playlist. I’m sure you’ll be jumping for joy after listening to this collection of songs about hopping, jumping and leaping. Happy Easter everyone!
Terrapin Brewing – Hop Karma Brown IPA
March 22, 2013 | Tristan ChanI generally follow the edict that beer should not be snobby. Drink it out of the bottle, hell bust out a solo cup if you must, but Terrapin’s Hop Karma Brown IPA is meant to breathe. It isn’t often you come across a Brown IPA. Generally the nutty malty flavors are a bit hard to manage with the bitter hoppy flavors, but Terrapin Brewing’s Hop Karma Brown IPA balances those tastes perfectly.
Roundtable Discussion: I love the 80’s
March 21, 2013 | Tristan ChanIn honor of this Saturday’s upcoming New Kids on the Block 80’s Party at the Lobby (tickets are still available but going fast), we posed an I love the 80’s version of this week’s roundtable discussion. Best Recruiting Class in History
March 21, 2013 | Tristan ChanOn Tuesday night, the University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball team wrapped their worst season in the modern era by falling to Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT. On Wednesday, Kentucky set themselves up for statistically the best recruiting class in collegiate history and what could become the deepest team in collegiate history.
Colorado Craft Beer Week
March 19, 2013 | Tristan ChanI revel every day at how lucky I am to live in this amazing state that we call Colorado. Much like the incubator that my home state of Kentucky is for fervent basketball fans, Colorado is the perfect climate for craft beer, and nothing fully captures brewing fertility quite like Colorado Craft Beer Week.
