September 10, 2021 | Tristan ChanMuch like 2020, this year’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF) looked a lot different than the norm. Impressive GABF Streaks Ahead of This Year’s Competition
September 10, 2021 | Tristan Chan 1Tonight marks the 35th iteration of the competition portion of the Great American Beer Festival. And while there will be no commercial tasting event open to the public for a second straight year, tonight’s awards are still sure to usher in socially distanced causes for celebration among breweries across the entire country.
In normal years we’d be prepping guided routes for folks to enjoy at the festival, this year we are once again focusing on trends we’ve seen emerge from past award winners.
2021 WeldWerks Invitational to be Postponed Until 2022
August 25, 2021 | Jaclyn MenendezHey, remember a couple of months ago when I confidently, naively announced that the WeldWerks Invitational was definitely happening this October? Well, much like that new Jeopardy host, I wish I could scrub the internet of my past mistakes. But alas, they live on, and I’m sad to tell you that due to rapidly rising COVID cases, the WeldWerks Invitational 2021 has been postponed until 2022.

Event Recap | 2021 Great Taste of the Midwest
August 16, 2021 | Mike ZollerSince 1987, the Great Taste of the Midwest has been a chance for Midwest breweries and beer lovers to converge on Madison, Wisconsin to enjoy some of the region’s best beers. This past Saturday the tradition continued with some new safety precautions, but that didn’t impact the festival which once again brought the beer community together.
Event Recap | Hi-Wire Brewing Presents LagerFest 2021
August 10, 2021 | Christopher HilliardThe morning of Hi-Wire’s LagerFest in Durham, NC, was not at all promising. Storms raged through the night, and the noon start time crept closer and closer. The forecast said the weather should let up, but it’s hard to trust North Carolina weather to cooperate. Fortunately, it was right. By 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 7, 2021 the rain had eased and by noon it was downright nice out. The rain had cooled everything off and the clouds kept the sun at bay, not a moment too soon for the ‘90s beach-themed LagerFest to kick off.

August 6, 2021 | Mike ZollerOne of the most well-known and beloved beer festivals in the country returns! Great Taste of the Midwest will be happening on August 14, albeit at a much smaller capacity.
Everything will be at 50% capacity, from guest attendance to breweries, in order to make the event as safe as possible. 5,000 tickets were sold and 100 breweries were invited to pour and, even though that meant a lot more people had to be turned away and a lot more breweries were not able to participate, Chairman Jason Walters said that everyone has been very understanding with the limitations.

Grab Discounted Tickets for This Week’s Denver Burger Battle
August 2, 2021 | Tristan ChanLong before the recent rise in craft, the pairing of burgers and beers were synonymous in a way that has come to define summer grilling, baseball games, and the American way. But as modern tastes have evolved past well-done chargrilled hockey pucks and watered down cheap light lagers, the beer and burger pairings have only evolved in more brilliant and decadent ways.
Launch Pad Brewery Celebrates Six Years With Festive Weekend
July 23, 2021 | Scott GrossmanLaunch Pad Brewing in Aurora, Colorado, kicked off its sixth anniversary Thursday night with four new releases and the start of a fun-filled weekend. Knotted Root Brewing Celebrates Second Anniversary On Top Of The World
July 13, 2021 | Jaclyn MenendezNestled in the foothills of Boulder, CO, the tiny town of Nederland is more than 8,000 feet above sea level. The winding road into town is about 16 miles of pure straight up, twisting through the mountains, running parallel to a roaring creek, making you feel closer to the sky than the ground. It’s fitting, then, that Knotted Root Brewing Company has made its home here. At its second-year anniversary party (which occurred this past Fourth of July weekend), it was tough to imagine any other brewery feeling more on top of the world.

The 5th annual festival featured 50+ brewers, distillers, and vendors from across Colorado, all eager to sample their best offerings at the first in-person festival for most people in over a year.
2021 WeldWerks Invitational Announces Brewery Line-Up & Ticket Sale Dates
June 28, 2021 | Jaclyn MenendezNearly two months after announcing the return of the WeldWerks Invitational, WeldWerks Brewing Company has the details we really need: which breweries are going, and when do tickets go on sale?
While national protocols are still far from established, WeldWerks took the past couple months to iron out some of the finer details related to the pandemic in addition to developing a code of conduct for attendees. The latter came in response to Brienne Allan’s recent movement to expose sexism, misogyny, and harassment within the industry, and WeldWerks, which was not named, decided to take the proactive approach to ensure a safe festival-going experience.
Event Recap | Good Word Brewing Presents “Little Beer”
June 8, 2021 | Brandon CohranFor any of you veteran craft beer drinkers out there, what comes to mind when you hear the phrase “beer fest” mentioned in conversation? Memories of overindulgence fueled by Biolyte and the FOMO of the out-of-state breweries who are pouring their beer? Maybe it’s racing around the room to all the hype tables before your palate is overwhelmingly wrecked. There’s also a good chance that you’ve been in line slamming an IPA taster before hitting the next tap in the row…We’ve all been there.
On Saturday, June 5, Good Word Brewing & Public House hosted a festival in collaboration with the City of Duluth that was one of the first beer-centric events to happen in Georgia since COVID-19 effectively shut down large gatherings a year ago. This was not a typical beer fest, though. Read More
Over Yonder Packs Two Anniversaries into One Beer & Music-Filled Weekend
May 19, 2021 | Seth GarlandIt was just over one year ago that we first met the team at Over Yonder Brewing Co. They were on the verge of celebrating their milestone one-year anniversary.
But there was to be no party. No live music. No guests. At the very beginning of the most restrictive lockdown in Colorado’s pandemic plight, OYB was dealt a tough hand for any brewery — let alone a brand-new brewery that was still trying to get its footing.

Odell Brewing Co. Celebrates Grand Opening of OBC Wine Project
May 5, 2021 | Jaclyn Menendez“Less snobby, more sippy.”
This is the mantra of OBC Wine Project, Odell Brewing Co.’s latest adventure of craft and creativity. Though cans of their wine have already hit distribution across Colorado and several other states, May 5 marked the official opening of their tasting room and patio located directly across from the well-known brewpub in Fort Collins, Colorado. And when we say directly, we mean directly: it takes about a dozen steps from Odell Brewing Co.’s famous patio stage to the front door of the OBC Wine Project. But despite this proximity, upon entering it is immediately clear that a great deal of thoughtful effort went into carving this space its own personality.
