Ultimate 6er | It’s All About The South
July 23, 2014 | Lindsay Krumel
I’m currently on vacation with my family in Oak Island, North Carolina, a seaside town of about 7,000 located just north of the North Carolina/South Carolina border. In the spirit of things, I decided that for this week’s Ultimate 6er, I’d concentrate on beers brewed south of the Mason-Dixon line. My choices were limited to what I could find in the mix-and-match section at the local Food Lion, but I think what I came up with is pretty stellar. Read More

Odell Brewing Company | Perle White IPA
July 18, 2014 | Chris DayABV: 5.5%
Do you remember the first time you tasted a white IPA? While enjoying a Chainbreaker a few years ago, I wondered if these wheaty-hoppy hybrids would ever catch on. Little did I know it would soon find a home on seemingly every taplist in Denver. While albino IPAs have become increasingly popular nationwide, we’ve only seen a few examples of the style from Colorado brewers. When I heard that Odell Brewing, the Ft. Collins brewery responsible for perhaps my favorite Colorado IPA, were releasing their Perle White IPA this summer, my tastebuds stood at rapt attention. Read More

People’s Brewing Company | Mound Builder IPA

I am proud of my home town. Being from a small, tight-knit community, in rural Indiana, it is difficult to share the greatness with people in Denver. For such a small place, I am very impressed with the local breweries. Both Lafayette Brewing Company and People’s Brewing Company make quality and tasty beer, but I was never able to bring it back to Denver with me … until now.

It was Friday night in Columbus, Ga. and my boyfriend and I decided to make the most of our weekend and take a trip out on the town.
Heading out for a night of stories to be made often starts with a desire to have something in our stomachs before filling up on alcohol. We chose Momma Goldberg’s Deli on Broadway in what is known as uptown Columbus, Ga.
My discovery at this sandwich shop wasn’t the food, though. No, my discovery was of a new brew which, with one sip, sent my tastebuds back to the breakfast table on weekday mornings before school in my childhood days. I’ve had beer smells (Natural Light and Keystone Light) direct me back to less pleasant memories of my flip flops sticking to the floor of the beer caked basements at a college fraternity houses. This beer, however, left me with a scent I encountered from a cardboard General Mills box. Read More
$250,000 in 3 Days: How Synek is Reinventing the Craft Beer Packaging Industry
July 14, 2014 | Niel Stender
Typically, when I check out a Kickstarter project, I spend some time thinking about whether or not I want to spend the money to get behind it. What level do I want to go in at? Do I think the project will take off? But when I watched the video for Synek’s (pronounced like cynic) Kickstarter, I immediately pressed the ‘Yes Please’ button. And not for my usual T-shirt or widget level participation but for the device itself. The first two and a half minutes got me all excited at the possibilities and the last twenty odd hilarious seconds of grilling and throwing bananas sold me. Read More
