Indeed Brewing Company | Pils
February 12, 2021 | Max SundermeyerOne of the most admirable characteristics of the brewing industry is the constant pursuit of perfection. The art of rebuilding or tweaking/fine-tuning classic worldly or new and innovative recipes is an art — an art the industry does well. In Minneapolis, there’s not a better example of this process than Indeed Brewing Company’s Pils.

February 10, 2021 | Mike ZollerWith their regular roster of beer events canceled due to the pandemic, the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild has had to be creative to find other ways to generate revenue for the non-profit organization. One solution has been mixed variety beer boxes for the general public to purchase. They sold out of the “FoBAB at Home” boxes in November and are releasing a new box with a March Madness-like BEERacket theme.
Ultimate 6er | Female Friendships to Celebrate
February 10, 2021 | Emma WargoletCelebrating friendships has always been extremely important, even more so after experiencing the trash fire of 2020. Galentine’s Day is a favorite holiday of mine, as it is a day where I can bake and craft and celebrate the incredible women in my life. I spend more time preparing for Galentine’s Day than I do most things, so knowing that this year will need to be postponed just equals more time to make celebrating female friendships extra special.

The Love Story Behind Gnarly Barley Brewing
February 9, 2021 | Katie de la RosaA love story that has spawned a nationally renowned craft brewery, one that has pumped out some of the highest-quality and most eccentric beers found anywhere on the Gulf Coast, has humble beginnings. And no, it didn’t just start with a hand-built homebrew kit in the garage.
It started five years before that, with a gas station-bought fishing rod and a tin of sardines.

One brewery never shy in doing just that is Dogfish Head, which recently introduced Hazy-O! This new hazy IPA is brewed with four types of oats: malted, rolled, naked and oat milk. Dogfish makes it a point to note that this will be the first nationally-distributed oat milk IPA on the market. Here’s what you need to know about a beer that Dogfish says took almost a year of research and development to perfect.
2020 New York Best in Beer Year-End Honors
February 9, 2021 | Karl KalinkewiczIf there was one thing 2020 gave us plenty of, other than anxiety, it was the chance to focus on our local beer scenes. Without travel, and with many states relaxing shipping laws, we had plenty of time to contemplate the state of the world and social distance with our favorite brews. New York was the early focal point of the pandemic, enacting changes swifter than most other states, forcing breweries to adapt to the new NY normal. Much like how the vine has to struggle to produce the best grapes, NY breweries persevered and produced some incredible products this year, expanding their catalogs, increasing distribution and pushing boundaries. This list will highlight some of the best beers, breweries and stories to come out of NY last year. So, without further ado, we present the 2020 New York Best in Beer Year-End Honors.

February 8, 2021 | Tristan Chan 1This year, as Firestone Walker Brewing prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Paso Robles-based brewery is about to embark on another ambitious project that aims to showcase experimentation and innovation. Common Roots Brewing Co. | Gondola Session IPA
February 8, 2021 | Rich StonerWhen it comes to being active outdoors, no pursuit is ever complete without a celebratory beverage or two. Hiking, biking… it doesn’t matter. Nowhere is this more evident than in the ski and snowboard industry. There, they have turned celebrating a day on the mountain into an art form. Known as après-ski, it encompasses all the social activities that take place after a day in the snow. Most of these endeavors include good craft beer, which has become synonymous with skiing over the years. Recognizing this connection, breweries are capitalizing by using ski culture in their branding. Breweries like Common Roots Brewing Co. and their Gondola Session IPA define the idea of celebrating in the outdoors.
What We’re Drinking | February 5, 2021
February 5, 2021 | Brandon CohranThere seems to be little signs of slowing down as the new year is already a month behind us. This week has been a long one, but there’s an exciting end in sight. We can do it. For millions of Americans this Sunday features a “Big Game,” but let’s just all raise a glass and hope or pray that the team from down south doesn’t get the win. No one — not a single person — needs to see Number 12 win another damn championship. Here’s to hoping for a miracle and maybe some snow will come down in Tampa. While I continue to bet against Tom, here is What We’re Drinking.

It’s one of the aspects that makes the industry unique — that togetherness and proof that competition isn’t a focal point. With their Holiday Reserve Coffee Stout, 2SP Brewing Co., which is located just outside of Philadelphia, took the idea of collaboration and looked outside the box.
