Stone Brewing Disputes Trademarks with Kentucky Brewery & 100 Other Brands

Stone Brewing, which has long built its brand on “challenging the status quo” and fighting against big beer, was outed on Friday for having issued a trademark cancellation request against Sawstone Brewing in Morehead, KY.

The pandemic has had a drastic impact on the drinking habits of many Americans, myself included. While I still indulge on the weekends, I’ve also developed a new craving for lighter, better-for-you options that can be consumed guilt-free throughout the week. Spiked kombucha from the likes of Luna Bay Booch and Jiant Kombucha are frequently found in my fridge, along with some new non-alcoholic offerings. While California’s Athletic Brewing might draw the most headlines for their non-alcoholic (NA) beer lineup, Californian counterpart Surreal Brewing has generated plaudits of its own thanks to the likes of Juicy Mavs NA Hazy IPA.

In some ways, Javier Chávez Jr. founded Cerveza Zólupez Beer Company specifically so he could brew Zólupez Lager Mexicano.
Chávez, the son of Mexican immigrants, wanted a beer that paired well with the food served at his parents’ restaurants. Even more, he sought to infuse his beers with Mexican culture and tradition while honoring his heritage.

Pinthouse Pizza’s award-winning Electric Jellyfish has had quite the journey. In 2015, the hazy IPA was designed to be a beer only available at the Lamar, TX location. In the five years since, it has become the brewery’s most popular beer. Soon, it will be the first Pinthouse Pizza beer available off-site.

Ska Brewing | The Tropical Hazy IPA

Ska Brewing in Durango, Colorado is generally good for a clever reference or two in their beer names, whether it’s a musical one like Rue B. Soho or a general play on words like summertime favorite Mexican Logger. Not all names have to be clever, however, and not all brews have to be overthought. This year, the brewery adds a second beer to the Hazy IPA category with the plainly named “The” Tropical Hazy IPA.
Revolution Brewing Goes Berry Forward in Next Deep Wood Release

To mark this year’s pandemic-extended July 15 Tax Day, we talked with Bargersville, IN-based Taxman Brewing Company‘s co-owner and chief production officer, Colin McCloy. Normally the brewery hosts an annual Death & Taxes Day festival around April 15. However, much like the IRS, the brewery had to delay the festival. This year’s festival is planned for August 29, 2020.
Taxman’s Belgian-style Ales and farm-to-table restaurant menu reflect the owners’ love and passion for Belgian culture. Their enthusiasm for beer also extends into American Farmhouse Ales and Midwest Saisons, along with a strong barrel-aging program. July usually is a month when we look forward to family gatherings, watching fireworks with friends and trips to mark the end of summer. Sadly, we are still in the midst of a global pandemic and have to put these plans on hold to ensure the spread of COVID-19 lessens. Some states have opened outdoor seating for breweries and some counties are cracking down on gatherings on beaches. Even Costco, at least where I live, isn’t making party platters since groups of 10 or more are discouraged. Set up a camping chair in your backyard, crack a cold one, and check out how our team is coping with another week in pandemic-land. This is What We’re Drinking.
Colorado Brewers Guild Announces Colorado Pint Day Date & Participants

The Colorado Brewer’s Guild (CBG) has announced the new date and participating brewery list for Colorado Pint Day 2020. Colorado Pint Day will now take place on Wednesday, July 29.
The annual event raises money for the guild and traditionally takes place during Colorado Craft Beer Week each spring. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CBG had to postpone its 2020 fundraiser. Now that breweries are being allowed to re-open with on-premise consumption, the guild was able to confirm a new date. Read More
