Lean back in your office chair, set your phone to “Do Not Disturb”, and prepare to discover What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | April 5, 2017
April 7, 2017 | Danele BovaThis is no trick… What We’re Drinking is back again bringing you a week’s worth of delicious brews!
What We’re Drinking | March 31, 2017
March 31, 2017 | Dan BortzThrough no fault of our own, we didn’t get to post What We’re Drinking last week. The opposition party believes that this was caused by a vast international conspiracy. Luckily, the chairman of the House Beer Blog Oversight Committee assures me that there is nothing to worry about and has canceled all future hearings on the matter. We should be in the clear, as long as Fake Tears over in the Senate doesn’t dig too deep into this. In order to wipe this minor oversight from your minds, I present a special two-week edition of What We’re Drinking. Fake news!
What We’re Drinking | March 17, 2017
March 17, 2017 | Dan BortzIt seems like I’m the only PorchDrinker who didn’t have an amazing week of craft beer enjoyment. Instead, I had to work lots of overtime because my coworkers were all pretending to be snowed-in in the aftermath of winter storm Stella. I’ve also managed to get sick again. It feels like my esophagus is being shredded with razor blades every time I swallow. This week I’m on the outside looking in as I bring you What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | March 10, 2017
March 10, 2017 | Danele BovaThe days are getting longer, which means more hours to get things done! But don’t let daytime distractions keep you from the most enjoyable parts of life. Also, don’t stress about the hour of sleep we are all going to lose on Sunday. With this loss, we also gain an hour of daylight! Here’s how we spent our waking hours this past week…this is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | March 3, 2017
March 3, 2017 | Dan BortzNo matter what your views on climate change are, there is no denying that spring is arriving ridiculously early in many parts of the country. Perhaps it was brought on by the unseasonable warm weather, but the PorchDrinkers enjoyed quite a few IPAs this week. That wasn’t all we drank, though! There were sours for fun, flights for variety and a little something special at the end. If you spent your whole week at work (or laid up with back pain like me), prepare to live vicariously through us. This is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | February 24, 2017
February 24, 2017 | Danele BovaThis week we celebrated Drink it Now Day, a holiday started by Allagash Brewing that encourages craft beer fans to choose something from their cellars to enjoy now, instead of waiting. But let’s be honest, we celebrate that every day here at PorchDrinking. This is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | February 17, 2017
February 17, 2017 | Dan BortzIt doesn’t seem like many PorchDrinkers indulged this week. I know I didn’t. The combination of my work schedule and my weight-loss goals have had me abstaining since Saturday. This week we praise the intrepid few. Four beer warriors have kept up the good fight while others could not. This is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | February 10, 2017
February 10, 2017 | Danele BovaThis week was full of ups and downs. Super Bowl 51 saw a huge upset by the Patriots who achieved a comeback over the Falcons (some celebrated, many did not.) Lady Gaga put on a kickass halftime show, but left her political side at home (or did she?) Beyonce broke the internet with her pregnancy announcement (the queen is having twins!) And the American public continues to flail about as the political atmosphere remains heavy and foreboding.
What We’re Drinking | February 3, 2017
February 3, 2017 | Dan BortzThe PorchDrinkers didn’t enjoy as many beers as we would have liked this week. Some of us succumbed to seasonal illnesses that made delicious beer turn to ash on our ruined palates. Others of us were in such dire straits that we were forced to turn to “doctors” for relief. Their strange tonics did the trick but, alas, could not be taken with alcohol. A fair few of us were just busy. That happens sometimes, right? The intrepid souls who remain offer you their libations of choice. Come forth and discover What We’re Drinking!
What We’re Drinking | January 27, 2017
January 27, 2017 | Danele Bova“Studies that we’re aware of show that 63% of craft beer drinkers yearn for the days when Big Beer was great. The craft beer “revolution” is nothing more than a conspiracy to devalue the quality product that our fine American brewers have been creating for decades.” — #AlternativeFacts
These, however, are not Alternative Facts. This is What We’re Drinking this week.

What We’re Drinking | January 20, 2017
January 20, 2017 | Dan BortzJanuary is rolling right along, and many of us are fighting the good fight against seasonal affective disorder. I’m not a licensed physician, but I find that the best tool for self-medication is a big, warming (possible barrel-aged) beer. Apparently the PorchDrinkers agree with me, because they enjoyed a few of those this week. Some think that brighter, fruitier libations are a better panacea for the season, but I believe that those people are quacks. This is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | January 13, 2017
January 13, 2017 | Danele BovaFriday the 13th, a superstition as old as time. At PorchDrinking, we don’t understand how a Friday could get such a bad rap. Maybe we can replace Friday the 13 with Monday the 13. Now that’s something to be scared of. Grab a drink, take a seat. This is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | January 6, 2017
January 6, 2017 | Dan BortzWelcome to 2017. This is a brand new year with brand new potential for the consumption of fine craft brews. Your New Year’s Resolution should definitely include trying new things. Expand your horizons and try new styles. Go outside your comfort zone. You might even like it! As usual, the PorchDrinking staff has provided you with a few great beers to start with. Grab a yellow legal pad and a fresh ball point. You’re about to discover What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | December 30th, 2016
December 30, 2016 | Danele BovaThe holiday season comes to a close, but we look back on all the delicious brews we enjoyed during our time with family and friends. We also contemplate giving our livers a break in the new year…..NOT! Here’s What We’re Drinking.

What We’re Drinking | December 23, 2016
December 23, 2016 | Dan BortzThe Winter Solstice has just past, and a few more holidays grow nearer, the PorchDrinkers seem to be setting their sights on bigger warmer beers to bring them cheer and warmth. Buried in this weeks selections, you will find new beers, old beers, barrel-aged beers, Bova-poses and fake Bova-poses. Grab your jingle bells, dump the egg nog down the drain, and sit in front of the Yule log. This is What We’re Drinking!
What We’re Drinking | December 16th, 2016
December 16, 2016 | Danele BovaEach year, December signifies the end of a chapter. People tend to reflect on what has happened over the past 12 months, and how they plan to change for the upcoming new year. But here at PorchDrinking we like to reflect back each week on What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | December 9, 2016
December 9, 2016 | Dan BortzIt’s the most wonderful time of the year. That’s right! It’s time for all the winter blockbusters to be released into theaters near you! Whether you’re visiting a wizarding world or making a hyperspace jump to a galaxy far, far away, you can rejoice in the knowledge that many theaters now carry a selection of delicious craft beers. Pre-order some tickets, get a bucket of popcorn, and put your phone on vibrate. This is What We’re Drinking.
What We’re Drinking | December 2, 2016
December 2, 2016 | Danele BovaIt’s officially the season. You know, the one where people like to say things in archaic phrases such as “‘Tis the season.” And even though it’s still 80 degrees in the southeast right now, christmas trees and lights have adorned the neighborhoods. The cold outside may help create a sense of the season for some people, but the warmth outside won’t stop us from feeling the holiday spirit. This week we tip back our glasses as we welcome the final month of 2016. This is What We’re Drinking.
