January was dragging by slowly, but it is finally gone. Hopefully, Punxsutawney Phil will have avoided his shadow by now and delivered unto us an early spring. If he decrees that there will be six more weeks of winter, at least we can take solace in the fact the there are still PorchDrinkers out there. As the first month of the new year fades away, we are all left with warm thoughts of holidays past and look forward to the next three-day weekend! I am looking forward to that extra Monday off after San Francisco Beer Week 2018 though; it all starts with the SFBW Gala in San Francisco on February 9, and ends with some chill events on the 18th. The 19th I fully plan on sleeping in and repairing what is left of my liver. I hope you enjoy seeing What We are Drinking this past week!

It’s been a crazy couple weeks here in the Bay Area. The North Bay is on fire, taking so many people’s livelihoods, homes, and wineries, and now Santa Cruz is on fire. Our air quality was on par with Beijing! Not to mention some people took advantage of the fires and looted, so not okay. This week the air quality has gotten back to tolerable levels and the relief efforts have been amazing to see roll in. Lots of Bay Area Breweries and Tap rooms held fundraisers for different funds!
