PorchDrinking Playlist | Halloween Horror
October 30, 2017 | Mathew PowersIt’s time to embrace the dark side of life (death). Soak in the screams. Face your fears. Take in the terror of a foggy graveyard. Forget cute costumes, trick or treating or the mythological Great Pumpkin. Halloween is for witches; mummies; Viking spirits; vicious clowns; nightmares; zombies; demons; and blood-sucking creatures of all types.

Ultimate 6er | Witches Brew
October 25, 2017 | Lora Kormos‘Tis the season for Halloween haunts and deliciously tasty beers! Halloween is just around the corner and I could barely contain my excitement. I’ve been busy prepping all month long for my favorite holiday by visiting pumpkin patches, putting out spooky decorations, deciding on the perfect costume and watching more horror films than I could count.
I love watching any horror film I can find. Zombies, clowns and slow-moving psycho maniacs, I can’t get enough of them. But since witching hour is nearly upon us, we have to honor some truly classic “black magic” women.
If you are gearing up for an evening of some bewitching entertainment, here are six beers to pair with some witches that graced us with their presence. Read More

October 24, 2017 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsThroughout life, I have gone through numerous shifts in my taste of music. I am open-minded for all genres of tunes, but there was a moment when I was particularly close-minded when it came to what I would put into my cassette/CD player. Read More
What We’re Drinking | October 20, 2017
October 20, 2017 | Constance Del RioIt’s been a crazy couple weeks here in the Bay Area. The North Bay is on fire, taking so many people’s livelihoods, homes, and wineries, and now Santa Cruz is on fire. Our air quality was on par with Beijing! Not to mention some people took advantage of the fires and looted, so not okay. This week the air quality has gotten back to tolerable levels and the relief efforts have been amazing to see roll in. Lots of Bay Area Breweries and Tap rooms held fundraisers for different funds! Take a load off and take a look at What We’re Drinking!
Beerstagram | October 12 – October 19

Be sure to keep tagging us @PorchDrinkingCO and we will see you back here again next week. Cheers!
Ultimate 6er | The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
October 18, 2017 | Scott Johnson“He made me feel warm like glitter was exploding inside me”
These words are from the first episode of CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and I have felt that way ever since. When the show first came out, everyone (myself included) rolled his or her eyes just because the title evokes that same type of romantic drama we know too well. I couldn’t be more wrong; Rachel Bloom’s comedy-musical series was one of the most original, introspective takes on will they-won’t they wacky love featuring great commentary on mental illness. Along with the witty writing, you get high quality, hilarious songs that riff on every genre like the Marilyn Monroe inspired “The Math of Love Triangles” and the best pop-punk song since 2009, “Ping Pong Girl.” Read More

Questions About The Trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”
October 14, 2017 | Drew TrollerThe trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out. The hype, speculation, ticket sales, merch shopping, theorizing and on-air promotion is only going to get more intense from here until the December 15 release date.
I’m sure PorchDrinking will be bringing you plenty of The Last Jedi content – already I’ve got half a dozen ideas for things to write about – but for now, let’s dig into this trailer. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably watched the trailer 10 or 20 times, looking for new bits of information about what will happen in Episode VIII.
So here are some of the questions we still have about Episode VIII after watching this trailer. Read More

PorchDrinking Playlist | A Little Bit of Wes Anderson
September 26, 2017 | Holly GerardIs it just me or does it seem long overdue for a new Wes Anderson movie? Recently, while talking about the Rolling Stones with friends I thought about making a playlist of (some) songs from Wes Anderson movies; he really likes to repeat themes of fore-mentioned Rolling Stones, Orchestra clips, David Bowie via Seu Jorge, Alexandre Desplat, the Ramones and more. There is a lot of songs from all of his movies to cram into one playlist so I decided to do a small sampling over a variety of his films. Hopefully this will tide us all over until 2018 when Isle of Dogs is supposed to premiere. Until then… Read More

Ultimate 6er | More Netflix Original Programming
September 20, 2017 | Scott JohnsonNetflix has become the new home for incredible original content spending six billion dollars for this year alone. As more people are ditching cable for the comfort of streaming, we expect to see shows that can do great things without corporate oversight. Last year, I talked about the best pairings with this company’s more publicly renowned shows, but this time we’ll point out the newer, more innovative series around!
PorchDrinking Playlist | Ex Novo Brewing
September 19, 2017 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsIn the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon there must be a Nickelback concert happening this very moment. It turns out to just not to be the case, however it may be the folks at Portland’s Ex Novo Brewing Company trying to break up a boring day. “One of our favorite pastimes at the brewery is to blast some super shitty music and see how long it takes before someone changes it,” said head brewer, Ryan Buxton. This seems to be a game they play to keep things from getting stale. The tradition keeps things fresh because it rarely lasts more than three songs at a time. And please do not worry, this is all done before the doors open to the public. Read More
