PorchDrinking Playlist | Don’t Burn the Turkey

November 14, 2017 |

It is about that time when even the individuals lacking cooking skills attempt to get in the kitchen and whip up something for their loved ones on Thanksgiving. If you are the host this year, first of all props to you! Everyone loves and appreciates you. Now, if you are a guest and would rather not make everyone pretend they are enjoying your dish, do not worry! Bring over some unique beers with a calming playlist to match. Celebrating a variety of individuals gathering at a table to give thanks and consume a delicious meal inspired this playlist. I have always enjoyed listening to a variety of genres and I hope you will too. This playlist may even set such a relaxing, easy going mood to help any stressed host from burning the turkey.

PorchDrinking Playlist | Halloween Horror

October 30, 2017 |

It’s time to embrace the dark side of life (death). Soak in the screams. Face your fears. Take in the terror of a foggy graveyard. Forget cute costumes, trick or treating or the mythological Great Pumpkin. Halloween is for witches; mummies; Viking spirits; vicious clowns; nightmares; zombies; demons; and blood-sucking creatures of all types.

Ultimate 6er | Witches Brew

October 25, 2017 |

‘Tis the season for Halloween haunts and deliciously tasty beers! Halloween is just around the corner and I could barely contain my excitement. I’ve been busy prepping all month long for my favorite holiday by visiting pumpkin patches, putting out spooky decorations, deciding on the perfect costume and watching more horror films than I could count.

I love watching any horror film I can find. Zombies, clowns and slow-moving psycho maniacs, I can’t get enough of them. But since witching hour is nearly upon us, we have to honor some truly classic “black magic” women.

If you are gearing up for an evening of some bewitching entertainment, here are six beers to pair with some witches that graced us with their presence. Read More

Throughout life, I have gone through numerous shifts in my taste of music. I am open-minded for all genres of tunes, but there was a moment when I was particularly close-minded when it came to what I would put into my cassette/CD player. Read More

What We’re Drinking | October 20, 2017

October 20, 2017 |

It’s been a crazy couple weeks here in the Bay Area. The North Bay is on fire, taking so many people’s livelihoods, homes, and wineries, and now Santa Cruz is on fire. Our air quality was on par with Beijing! Not to mention some people took advantage of the fires and looted, so not okay. This week the air quality has gotten back to tolerable levels and the relief efforts have been amazing to see roll in. Lots of Bay Area Breweries and Tap rooms held fundraisers for different funds! Take a load off and take a look at What We’re Drinking!

Ultimate 6er | The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

October 18, 2017 |

He made me feel warm like glitter was exploding inside me

These words are from the first episode of CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and I have felt that way ever since. When the show first came out, everyone (myself included) rolled his or her eyes just because the title evokes that same type of romantic drama we know too well. I couldn’t be more wrong; Rachel Bloom’s comedy-musical series was one of the most original, introspective takes on will they-won’t they wacky love featuring great commentary on mental illness. Along with the witty writing, you get high quality, hilarious songs that riff on every genre like the Marilyn Monroe inspired “The Math of Love Triangles” and the best pop-punk song since 2009, “Ping Pong Girl.” Read More

PorchDrinking Playlist | A Little Bit of Wes Anderson

September 26, 2017 |

Is it just me or does it seem long overdue for a new Wes Anderson movie? Recently, while talking about the Rolling Stones with friends I thought about making a playlist of (some) songs from Wes Anderson movies; he really likes to repeat themes of fore-mentioned Rolling Stones, Orchestra clips, David Bowie via Seu Jorge, Alexandre Desplat, the Ramones and more. There is a lot of songs from all of his movies to cram into one playlist so I decided to do a small sampling over a variety of his films. Hopefully this will tide us all over until 2018 when Isle of Dogs is supposed to premiere. Until then… Read More
