Pop Culture Week In Review Feb. 1 – 7
February 7, 2014 | Nik HeimachIt’s been said that all substances lower the quality of your writing, but heighten your opinion of it. If that’s the case, by the time I finish this article, I’ll swear it’s my magnum opus.
Not from anything illegal, mind you, but from that most auspicious of beverages: beer. That’s what you get when PorchDrinking.com founder Tristan Chan shows up in your city and hops from brewery to brewery with you in tow. It’s when you get to taste brews named “Clown Tears,” “Quaff on Hare Trigger” and “Kono Koko” while sharing conversations and laughs with a group of people you just met. But I can’t think of a better way to end my PorchDrinking hiatus than with a night like that.
18 GIFs to Show How I Feel About Lists of GIFs
February 6, 2014 | Drew TrollerDid you click this link because you were looking forward to seeing a list of animated GIFs?
We don’t blame you. It happens to lots of people. GIF-lists are click-bait on the internet, and more sites are using them as ways to lure in viewers with entertaining and highly share-able content. This list of GIFs is different. This is a list of GIFs to show how I feel about the growing trend of GIF lists.

“New” Hollywood Movies Are Starting to Get Old
January 30, 2014 | Christian Bolen WalkerIt’s normally a struggle to describe déjà vu to someone when you feel it. “It’s like, I remember you being here with me and we were doing something like this, but not… Ya know what I mean?” Rarely are we able to eloquently articulate the sensation of experiencing something that we sense we’ve already experienced before. The exception to that rule is if you were having this conversation on the way out of a movie theater recently. In that case, you could simply describe how there were striking similarities between the film you just saw and the TV show it was based on, or the previous film in the series, or the original version of the film that came out 10 years ago. I think the title to the seventh installment of X-Men movies sums it up pretty well. X-Men: Days of Future Past. That’s what the movie industry feels like right now. The future releases were actually released someday in the past.

Top 5 Things to Watch While Sick
January 23, 2014 | AdminIf your office is anything like mine, when one person gets sick, the germs sweep the whole company like wildfire. No one is left unscathed. Everyone in the department stocks up on airborne and hand sanitizer in a feeble attempt to escape the inevitable. I recently got caught up in an epidemic—fever, chills, sweating uncontrollably, cough, runny nose … the works—and found myself having to stay home two full days in a row. But my loss is your future gain as I have now compiled the “Top 5 Things to Watch While Sick.”

How Is That Legal?! Legalizing Marijuana
January 13, 2014 | Tristan Chan 3*Now that purchasing marijuana has officially become legalized in Colorado we thought we’d re-visit one of our favorite posts from last year with a few extra additions. With all the hubbub about legalizing marijuana we looked at a few other things that are legal that probably shouldn’t be.*

The Changing Faces of Late Night
January 9, 2014 | Christian Bolen Walker 52014 is going to be a year of change. We might see a human organ produced by a 3-D printer, nations rise and fall, and hopefully the retirement of Justin Bieber. Despite these impressive technological and cultural milestones, there is an even greater transformation facing our nation – nay, the world. Yes, even greater than The Biebs playing shuffle board. Oh, and no I will not be talking about New Year’s Eve coverage like Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin (pictured above). Because that is the stupidest programming ever and it is always terrible. ANYWAY…. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
