PorchDrinking Playlist | February Funk Playlist
February 18, 2014 | Ellie ThompsonThese past few months, I’ve been curiously enamored with the funk genre. I’m not quite sure what sparked this love-affair, yet I speculate it has something to do with my recent stay at a place called the “Mojo Inn” (a charming, modern hostel with a brilliant Motown-inspired lobby playlist), or perhaps seeing & hearing a good friend and his 9-piece funk band play live shows (s/o http://www.grampsthevamp.com).

February 12, 2014 | Ellie ThompsonWith Valentine’s Day around the corner, we have most likely been bombarded—(un)willingly—with daily reminders of Friday’s forecast (red roses, pink hearts, chocolate, all (or none) of the above, etc.).
But … Read More

PorchDrinking Playlist: The Hangover Playlist
January 14, 2014 | Tristan ChanWe’ve all had those mornings where we’ve crawled out of bed cursing the day we allow another drop of alcohol to poison our lips. Those days are usually wrought with lying around in bed, double digit cups of coffee, Paula Dean levels of lard laden food and a mix of chill but purposeful tunes to inspire and wrench us out of the drudgery. Here is a hangover playlist of beautifully laid back songs for just those occasions. So kick back, take a deep breath and begin to recoup from New Years, Vail Big Beers Belgians and Barleywines or just that random bender you had this past weekend

PorchDrinking Playlist: Snow Songs
December 17, 2013 | Tristan ChanAs children, we’d pull out all the stops when it came to the potential of a snow day. I often think back to countless nights I spent donning pj’s that had been flipped inside out huddled around the window scoping out those first flakes as they caught the glimmer of the street light outside of my house. Because seeing those flittering white flecks meant the sure possibility that we’d be granted a much needed reprieve from school the next day. What followed often resulted in a tribal dance channeled directly to the snow gods to bring the proverbial frozen rain. This playlist of snow songs is devoted to the inner child in us in hopes of a safe and snowy December.

We here at PorchDrinking are thankful for many things. But mostly we’re thankful that you have been along with us on this incredible journey for the past year and a half. For today’s PorchDrinking Playlist I decided to research as many songs about giving thanks and mostly having the words thanks and thank you in their title. Oh, and of course a little Charlie Brown and Adam Sandler were necessary. So have a wonderful holiday with your friends and family and we thank you for joining our family for the past several months!
PorchDrinking Playlist: Songs That Make You Happy
November 19, 2013 | Tristan ChanWhether it’s a calming precursor to a night of slumber, a conjuring nostalgic link to past memories, or a toe tapping form of inspiration to pull someone out of sorrow, music can have a transformative effect on a person’s mood. Today’s playlist is devoted entirely toward songs that make you happy. These are the toe tappers, the frown upside downers and in some cases songs about being just gosh darn happy. Let me know if these have the same effect as they do to me!
