PorchDrinking Playlist
Beer and Music. Let’s have a good time.
PorchDrinking Playlist | Sunroof Open, Windows Down
July 8, 2014 | Kevin RisnerAfter years of not doing so, I decided in 2010 that the time was right to put together some of my favorite songs of the moment onto a CD. I would play these songs in my car as I drove around the city or along the interstate with the windows down, basking in the summer months and the sun and the warm weather.
It’s become a tradition now to do this every year. At the start of the year, I closely explore a variety of songs that might fit well together. Soon after I begin looking for summer-y songs, I notice a possible theme emanating from the endless songs I find or are recommended.
PorchDrinking Playlist | Songs About Porches
June 24, 2014 | Tristan ChanFor those of you who have been with us since the beginning this playlist may look a tad familiar. Last year to commemorate our 1 year anniversary I curated this playlist chock full of songs about porches. Here we are a year later and tomorrow we celebrate the 2nd birthday of PorchDrinking.com. We’ve come a long way from the gun-slingin wild wild western days of 2012. And while some writers have come and gone and some beers have revealed themselves as 8th wonders of the world, and others have left us with much to be desired, one thing has remained a constant along the way. When it gets down to the core of who we are, we’ll still draw inspiration from drinking on the porch with good friends. So today on this eve of our 2nd Year Anniversary we bring you even more songs about porches.

PorchDrinking Playlist | New-Age Music
April 22, 2014 | Ellie ThompsonEach decade is known for its musical genres and proliferative sub genres (we distinguish the 60’s from the 70’s, the 80’s from the 90’s, but also the mid 80’s from the early 90’s). Many of the artists from the past few years have recycled “oldie” sounds from decades past (1980’s, 1990’s, and even 2000’s), blending the 80’s and 90’s poppy dance vibes with newer styles. For instance, releases from Chromeo, Cut Copy or Holy Ghost! have catchy elements that pay homage to the 1980’s, while incorporating rap, dance and electronic themes. This week you’ll find some of this new-age music that, though recent, may sound familiar thanks to regeneration and the appreciation of pieces of music’s history.

PorchDrinking Playlist | March Mix
March 25, 2014 | Ellie ThompsonThe phrase “March Madness” doesn’t just describe the culmination of NCAA basketball season. Rather, it is a phrase that most accurately depicts the typical state of life in this particular month. March means flux, instability, madness. Whether it’s the quickly dissolving weeks of the year (and consequently the realization it’s been 2014 for two months now), or desperate need for a spring break, it seems March is a time for increased deadlines, assignments, etc. Yet we’re traveling at full speed, and it’s quite the challenge to slow down. These songs by nature reflect that flux. It’s a hodgepodge of some of my favorite covers, remixes and new hits. I hope you enjoy!
