What We’re Cooking | Smoked Over-the-Top Chili

Of all the hobbies we’ve collected as humans over the pandemic, learning how to cook with a smoker might be one of the best. It’s practical, can be used for the rest of your life, makes delicious food and walks that perfect line between obsession and enthusiasm without completely depleting your bank account.
If you are in the food-smoking world, you likely have already seen a few (or a ton of) social media posts for over-the-top chili. And even if you haven’t made it yourself (yet), it’s probably high on your list. For National Chili Day, we thought it would be a perfect time to highlight this versatile cold-weather dish. Most chili recipes call for water OR beer, so you can swap out the water in your chili base for any of your favorite beers (probably wouldn’t use a Sour obviously). For this recipe, the beer of choice was 95 Nightmares Before Christmas, a Dry-Hopped Munich Lager from Fiction Beer Co.

Aging beer in spirits barrels is nothing new in the world of beer, but some breweries are placing an increased emphasis on this style, creating dedicated series of beers that solely focus on barrel aging in its various forms. New Image is one of those breweries taking their barrel aging game to the next level with the creation of the Anaphora and Noema (pronounced No – Emma) series of Stouts. While Anaphora will focus on massaging the utmost flavor out of barrels without the use of adjuncts, Noema seeks to enhance the natural flavors of barrels by working with additives. Outer Range Brewing Opening Second Location in French Alps

One of Colorado’s fastest-rising breweries is commemorating its fifth anniversary this weekend with a major announcement. Frisco’s Outer Range Brewing, announced today that they will be opening a second location. However, instead of following in the footsteps of their local contemporaries, many of whom have recently opened auxiliary outposts in-state, Outer Range announced that they would be opening a second taproom and brewery location in the French Alps.

Telluride Blues & Brews Festival Revamps with New Brewers Showcase

The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is changing its beer programming in a big way for 2022. This year, the festival is holding five different sessions and a more intimate experience with its new Brewers Showcase. Guests can speak with breweries and try a variety of new, classic, and rare craft beers in each different session. In previous years, the Saturday of the festival featured one session known as the Grand Tasting.
As of now, the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is planned for Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September 18, 2022.

First Look | Ratio Beerworks Opens Overland Location

It’s been nearly a year since it was first announced that Ratio Beerworks had acquired the space formerly occupied by Declaration Brewing. And while a lot of growth has taken place both within that space and with Ratio, three core values still remain unchanged: Beer. Music, Party.
While its previous tenant never seemed to coalesce around a consistent theme, consistency might be the best way to describe Ratio’s second taproom and production facility. It’s still the same great beer the city of Denver has grown to love featuring several fan favorite seasonals such as King of Carrot Flowers, their iconic carrot and elderflower Saison, Major Nights Lime Gose, as well as beloved flagships such as Domestica American Standard Ale, Dear You French Saison, and Hold Steady Scotch Ale, while also featuring a few new entries such as Smoked Helles, a Smoked Lager made with Laws Whiskey and Colorado Malting Company and Sneak Peek, a Hazy IPA produced exclusively for the Ratio’s Overland location.
