Event Recap | New Belgium’s Le Kriek Noir Bottle Release
July 31, 2017 | Chea FranzAt 10:30 p.m. we approach a line that spills out the door of New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins. The red carpet is rolled out, and folks are dressed to the nines wearing elegant cocktail dresses, suspenders, and fedoras to go along with the “film noir” theme of the evening. In a return to the cork and cage format of La Folie’s past, New Belgium’s Unveiled & Uncorked bottle release party was a celebration of the launch of the brewery’s Wood Cellar Reserve, a series of very rare, small batch wild and sour ales—and the star of the night was Le Kriek Noir, the first release from Wood Cellar Reserve. 2017 Daily Guide to The Underground Music Showcase
July 27, 2017 | Tristan ChanAfter four consecutive days of hot, sweaty, adrenaline fueled, unkempt, ear drum rupturing, Illegal Pete’s burrito-stained, dance-riddled navigating from one end of South Broadway to another, each year it’s clear, there may be no better representation of Denver’s teeming music than the Underground Music Showcase (UMS).
Rally King Rallies for Two Year Anniversary
July 27, 2017 | Bryan OldhamIn two short years, Rally King Brewing has become one of Fort Collins’ go-to watering holes. What started as a passion project for owners Matt and Michelle Kriewall has evolved into a standout brewery in what many consider the craft beer capital of the United States. Rally King is tucked away in a strip center on the east side of town, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it spot between a gamer’s paradise and a delicious Asian restaurant. This past Saturday, however, you’d be hard pressed to overlook Rally King’s taproom.

July 26, 2017 | Cory PelcIndependence Brewing Co. (Austin, TX) and “The Tacos of Texas” authors start a ‘Revolución’ with new Saison made to pair with tacos.
Now, you know that is something we can get behind. Smashing tacos and skulling Saisons is, like, one of our top five favorite things to do during patio porch season.

Brewery Rickoli’s “Gluten Removed” Beer Joins Sam Adams Collab Pack
July 26, 2017 | Stan LawsonRick Abitbol loves craft beer. It is a passion that began from when his mother gave him his first brew kit and continues today as owner and head brewer of Brewery Rickoli in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Rick’s love of craft beer nearly won him a medal in the state fair for his first entry and today he continues to make award winning beer that just happens to be gluten removed. With a lineup of full bodied flavorful beers, the common customer would likely overlook the fact that Abitbol treats his beers with an enzyme that breaks down the gluten chain.
Left Hand Brewing Co. | Fade to Black
July 25, 2017 | Chris WallnerIf asked what first comes to mind when you think of Left Hand Brewing, I would guess Milk Stout and Nitro top that list. As much as I enjoy Milk Stout and the Nitro lineup of beers, one beer in Left Hand’s vast portfolio that might be overlooked is Fade to Black, their winter seasonal. Read More
Privileged Sonz Beerz Teams Three of Industry’s Most Powerful Families
July 21, 2017 | PorchDrinking.com StaffThe following is a parody piece submitted by Call to Arms Brewing, because ostrich boots are funny and 30 day lagers aren’t that uncommon.
Perhaps you know the names: Franzia, Schlitz, Fieri – they comprise some of the most notable families and names pioneering the beverage and culinary industry in the 21st century. Those names bring power, and they bring clout, and they bring tons of unnecessary rings, bracelets and necklaces.

Ultimate 6er | Summer Seasonal Cans
July 19, 2017 | Holly GerardTwo weekends ago I waited in line three days in a row to see my favorite band at Red Rocks Amphitheater, The Avett Brothers. While that may sound like a big time suck (it was) it was totally worth it to sit close to the stage each night. There’s a caveat though, the beer they sell at Red Rocks is not craft (Shocktop, anyone?) and you have to kill time in line, right? So why not bring along a few beers to enjoy with your husband and friends! These are some of the Summer seasonal cans that I enjoyed while waiting around for many hours and highly recommend them to anyone tailgating Red Rocks or camping in the plethora of mountains that Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region has to offer!

Black Project’s Lambic-Inspired Roswell Release is the Real Deal
July 18, 2017 | Tristan ChanIts easy to get lost in the clutter. Currently in craft beer, there’s a shiny new toy wrapped under layers of marketing speak at over 5,000 breweries across the country. New England this, barrel-aged that, it can sometimes become cumbersome filtering through the hype to find the handful of truly inventive, quality beers that are really moving the needle in this market. Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales is doing just that with this weekend’s release of their spontaneously fermented barrel-aged, Lambic-inspired ale Roswell, featuring six heavily fruited variants.

Since then several more breweries have opened, but Lone Tree has continued to grow strong. They recently introduced their Branching Out Series of seasonals and continue to grow their selection of canned beers. These include their Mexican Lager, Red Ale, Double IPA and Peach Pale. Music Puts the Soul in Soulcraft
July 11, 2017 | Sue BjorkmanIn Colorado’s crazy-competitive craft beer climate, what makes the difference between soaring success and sorry, we’re closed? Sometimes, in addition to making amazing beers, it helps to find a niche. Soulcraft Brewery in Salida, Colorado, found theirs, a little unexpectedly—in music.
A passionate group of local investors opened Soulcraft Brewery in November 2016 with every intention of simply being a local tasting room serving incredible beer. It wasn’t surprising that the locals responded immediately. It also wasn’t too shocking that tourists traveling to nearby Monarch Mountain Ski Resort responded big time. Soulcraft is right on Highway 50 with a bright neon sign shouting, “Brewery.” This is more than enough to entice adventure-seekers rolling through.
But then an intriguing thing happened. This music-loving town of just 5,500 residents had always had more soul than space. But Soulcraft’s location was in a large, former furniture warehouse so its rare spaciousness got people thinking. Dreaming. Could their tasting room become an entertainment destination? Oh yea. Colorado Brewery Openings for July, August & September 2017
July 11, 2017 | Brian PhippsIt’s getting hot out herrrrrrre… like ridiculously hot. I just want to pop up a tent right next to an open fridge door like in The Simpsons and just cool off. However, a more refrigerator-motor-friendly option is to grab a beer from one of the 16 Colorado brewery openings occurring in the next three months.
From July to August and through September, breweries all across the state will open up. Many of these breweries you could even check out on your way to or from an awesome camping spot.
Just as the Fresh Prince said, “Summer, summer, summer time. Time to sit back and unwind.” You’ll want to unwind by checking out these new Colorado breweries.
Rapids & Grass Beer and Music Festival Shines in First Year
July 7, 2017 | Eric GorskiAs an image that captures the spirit of the Arkansas River Valley beer scene, it was as good as any: a purple whitewater kayak plastered with Colorado brewery stickers serving as a cooler.
That, during the tasting session of last weekend’s inaugural Rapids and Grass Beer and Music Festival in Buena Vista, is where you could find hometown favorite Eddyline Brewing’s “beers for any adventure.”
