Not content to rest on its niche beer style laurels, Firestone Walker has taken its classic Helldorado, a barrel aged Blonde Barleywine, and applied a tropical treatment, aging the beer in a combination of rum and rhum agricole barrels before conditioning it on coconut. The result is Rum Barrel CocoRado, a delightfully unique subset of a subset within beer styles. If you’re being different, you might as well dial the eccentricity up to 11.

Ten years after opening its flagship location in Boulder, CO, Sanitas Brewing is ready to branch out with a second location in Englewood, CO. The new 4,700 sq ft taproom facility located at 200 W. Belleview Ave, will also feature an expansive 2,500-plus-sq ft outdoor patio to mirror a signature element associated with its Boulder location.

For beer drinkers segueing into cider, cider lovers looking for something different, or anyone who loves high quality fruit-forward beverages made with fresh ingredients, Colorado’s Stem Ciders are fermenting up a storm with a range of dry and flavored ciders made with pressed juice from Pacific-Northwest apples and adjuncts ranging from chile-guava to lavender, salted cucumber to carrot-ginger-turmeric. Determined to win over new drinkers from outside the cider community, Stem have created their newest release, Apricot Haze, especially with beer lovers in mind, using an unusual technique to replicate the hop punch of a hazy IPA, paired with a bright, refreshing apricot base.

Vine Street Brewing to Make History

Vine Street Brewing will be making history in June by becoming Missouri’s first black-owned brewery. The ascension of Vine Street Brewing is similar to the legendary Tupac Shakur’s poem, “The Rose That Grew From Concrete.” A black-owned brewery, with black brewers, in a predominantly black neighborhood took root in the concrete. Wondrously, in an area that has been forgotten by its own city, a brewery began to flourish. Now those vines are beginning to climb the scaffold of society restoring beauty and wealth to its own community.

Another wildly successful Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival is in the books, and PorchDrinking has lived to write about it. Over 65 breweries from across the U.S. and various international locations descended on Paso Robles, California, with their best beers to delight thousands of beer fans. Time is upon us yet again for one of the most anticipated beer fests of the year, the 2023 Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival. Saturday, June 3 in Paso Robles, California, over 65 of the best breweries from across America and some international locations will be pouring some of their best beers to the delight of beer fans traveling from all over. As with any beer fest, it’s inadvisable if not impossible to visit every brewery’s booth and try all of their beer, so we at PorchDrinking have combed through the list and picked out some especially noteworthy beers you should make a point to try at the Paso Robles Event Center.
