June 1, 2021 | Michelle ThomasBayboro Brewing Co. is one of the newest and hottest breweries in the Tampa Bay area. When James and Kelcy Coleman opened their doors on March 17, 2020, they had no idea what was coming just that afternoon: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued his executive order shutting down the state in an attempt to keep Floridians safe from the Coronavirus. In just a few hours, all breweries closed their doors; uncertainty lay ahead.
However, Bayboro kept things going when breweries were allowed to sell beer to-go. They bought growlers and crowler cans, a crowler machine and plastic cups. They were patient until things finally started to improve and they could open their doors to start flourishing in this vibrant craft beer community.

Scout & Scholar Brewing Co. Honors Bardstown’s History & Future
May 18, 2021 | Kindsey BernhardThe city of Bardstown, KY was founded by two brothers, William and David Bard, in 1780. William was a surveyor, land agent and frontiersman and, after drawing the first lots of Louisville in 1779, he explored beyond Louisville and laid out the city of Bardstown 40 miles away. David was a graduate of Princeton College, where he studied theology and later became a Presbyterian Minister. His goal was to bring the community of Bardstown together.
Now, after 240 years, Scout & Scholar Brewing Co. opened in downtown Bardstown, paying homage to William Bard, the “Scout” and David Bard, the “Scholar.”
Kentucky Brewer Named Winner of Brewing The American Dream

It was no prank, and Ashton Kutcher was not hiding behind Hopkinsville’s brewing tanks ready to tell Russell she was on an episode of “Punk’d”. Russell was, in fact, the winner of Samuel Adams’ 8th Brewer Experienceship program.

Thankfully their Head Brewer, Tyler Cox, created Chattahooch-Tea Southeastern IPA, a sweet tea-inspired Hazy IPA, to help cool you down.

This 4.2% ABV barrel-aged wheat beer uses coriander, orange peel, chamomile and old-world fermentation techniques to make it interesting and add depth. The brew evokes the fresh scent in the air that appears after one of the short showers that define spring in the brewery’s hometown of Asheville, NC.

Just entering their tasting room, by the way, is an experience all its own. A bold and unforgettable almost neon blue color on the wall suggests a combination of hype and chill vibes amongst this taproom.
Asheville Breweries Bloom with Expansions & Taproom Reopenings

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. announcing the reopening of their taproom, Hi-Wire Brewing Co. will open a new beer garden and Burial Beer Co. expanding its South Slope footprint. All in all, craft beer fans will have a lot to explore this summer in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Against the Grain Brewery to Open Downtown Louisville Location

Against the Grain Brewery is hoping to change that. The brewery announced they are opening their fourth location in downtown Louisville in the building that formerly housed Another Place Sandwich Shop and Jimmy Can’t Dance that closed on February 28, 2021.
Fat Bottom Brewing | Knockout IPA

With every new, flashy, ridiculously-hopped IPA or adjunct loaded, melted ice cream cone passing as a stout, they’re also the first to be forgotten. Like a true workhorse, flagship beers do their job. They get packed in cases or filled in kegs to be shipped off to a sea of local grocery stores and faceless sports bars while getting snubbed by the cool kid, craft beer stores in town. Flagship beers may never get any taproom-exclusive hype, but they’re evergreen. They pay the bills, and keep the lights on.

My nomination goes to the southwest, specifically the Hatch, NM region and their green chile. It is, in fact, green CHILE (not chili, or chilli). They take it so seriously that the New Mexico legislature passed rules requiring those products involved in the chile food and beverage trade to be labeled with “New Mexican” or “Not grown in New Mexico.”* “Red or Green?” (styles of chile) is even the official question of the state. Like I said, serious stuff… does Philly codify their cheesesteak labeling into law?
