On Saturday, January 22, the Winter Brew Fest at Mile High Station kicked off the new year with a bang as the first official beer festival of the year in Denver. Attendees enjoyed over 100 beers, hard kombuchas, hard seltzers, and spirits to sample over day and evening sessions.

Sunday, January 30, was the launch of Eastern Philosophy: A Kaiju Brew – the first beer brewed to fundraise for Stop AAPI Hate. The brainchild of Will Golden, Director of Brewing Operations and Co-founder of Austin Beerworks and Chris Gomez, Owner of Kaiju Cut & Sew, the event brought together several local businesses, with hundreds of Austinites in attendance to show their support and get a taste of this very special beer.

We made it to 2022! Hopefully, you all had a great New Year and have been making it through the start of January fairly smoothly at this point. As we take a look at the new canned/bottled releases coming out around Colorado, we’re definitely seeing the number of new beers pick back up, and we can’t wait to try them!

Acopon Brewing | Hans Trapp Russian Imperial Stout

For the past four years, residents of and visitors to the Texas Hill Country have had a privilege rarely bestowed on American beer drinkers — the opportunity to enjoy freshly brewed English-style beers served on cask at the singular Acopon Brewing taproom in Dripping Springs TX. While their beautifully delivered flagship Homunculus Dark Mild Ale and Gaspipes ESB continue to draw in both cask-curious and happily acclimated patrons from season to season, at this time of year there is another very good reason to make a trip to Acopon — the annual release of their Hans Trapp BBA Russian Imperial Stout.
2021 Georgia Best in Beer Year-End Honors

Even though 2021 seemed to pass by at an outrageous pace—two years of a pandemic will do that—there were several memorable beers, new breweries and stories that came out of Georgia. 2021 saw Lagers catch a ton of love across the state, finally. There were still plenty of other styles and releases that garnered tons of trades and attention, but shoutout to Lagers for stealing the spotlight. Ursula Brewery | Xocolatl Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout

They have been working since 2016 to perfect their brews. They boast a dog-friendly taproom and give back to the community through events like clothing drives. In the taproom, you will find a variety of beers, but one that deserves extra attention is the Xocolatl Mexican Hot Chocolate Imperial Stout.

Week 12 of the NFL season was once again highlighted by several huge performances from running backs across the league. Leonard Fournette won the day by carrying the ball 17 times for 100 yards while adding 31 yards through the air on seven catches. Oh, and he had a cool four TDs on top of the yardage for a 40+ point week. The Atlanta Falcons do-it-all back Cordarrelle Patterson rushed 16 times for 108 and a pair of scores. Dontrell Hilliard for the Derrick Henry-less Titans had 131 on only a dozen carries with a score, too.
