Event Recap | Uppers and Downers 2019
April 2, 2019 | Mike ZollerTo call Uppers and Downers “just” a coffee beer fest would be a disservice to how the event highlights both the coffee and the beer industry.
Wallenpaupack Brewing Co. | Femme Brutale Brut IPA
April 2, 2019 | Lora KormosStrong as an ox.
Solid as a rock.
These phrases perfectly describe an up-and-coming brewery, Wallenpaupack Brewing Co. It’s situated in Hawley, PA, close to the third largest lake man-made lake in Pennsylvania; follow the coast and its 52 miles of shoreline will lead you to some fantastic beer. Lake Wallenpaupack is a major recreational destination in the Pocono Mountain region. However, it was lacking a place that brewed some solid brews. Siblings Becky and Christopher Ryman noticed the need for a brewery around the lake and decided to get to work on offering the area something unique.

Maplewood Brewery | Charlatan Pale Ale
March 22, 2019 | Dave DruryFor my first piece for PorchDrinking, I decided to revisit a beer that kicked off my love of craft beers.
I still remember the first time I tried The Charlatan…back before it was canned. Before it received its new look. Hell, even before Maplewood came to be known as Maplewood.
Adamant Brewing & Blending Opens in Boulder’s Former Cellar West
March 21, 2019 | Katie de la Rosa 1It’s not immediately clear where Adamant Brewing and Blending, tucked deep into an industrial pocket of North Boulder, is among the dozen or so nondescript cement facades in a lot full of warehouses.
But beneath a black awning, next to a small, yellow Brewers Association sticker in the lone window guarded by black bars, lies Boulder’s newest brewery and the “cousin” to VisionQuest, a brewery borne from a homebrew shop on the East side of the city. Adam Kandle, co-owner and co-founder of both, calls VisionQuest the cousin, and not sister, because breweries know no gender.
Roses’ Taproom | Lite Brite
March 21, 2019 | Danielle EngelRoses’ Taproom in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, California is ushering in a new wave of breweries by reimagining what a taproom can be. They’re bringing their own style to an ever-growing and expanding beer community in the East Bay.
Walking through the door, some may get a hipster, bougie vibe from the space. But, it’s clear that immense thought and care has gone into every detail. From the teal fish scale backsplash behind the multi-curved spindle tap handles to the luscious greenery and warm lighting, visitors are made to feel comfortable and welcome to share a beer or two with friends in this stylish space.

Top 10 Vegetarian Friendly Breweries and Brewpubs Across America
February 21, 2019 | Paul LewisMy wife and I recently reached our milestone of traveling to all 50 states, ensuring we visit the local brewery in each of the places that we visit. While I am an avid meat eater, my wife is vegetarian. So, the places we choose to eat during our travels had to be well researched in advance to ensure they have a vegetarian menu that met the expectations of my wife, who can be quite a picky eater. Luckily, nowadays, that isn’t hard. Many breweries and brewpubs offer at least one vegetarian option on their menu, to various degrees of success and creativity.

Cheers to trying new beer experiences, even if it means submerging yourself in a hot tub full of beer ingredients! PorchDrinkers have a cool lineup of diverse beers and we are all over the country sharing this week’s What We’re Drinking.
