New Belgium Brewing | Blackberry Barleywine
December 16, 2015 | Tristan Chan
ABV: 10% | IBU: 50
New Belgium Brewing Blackberry Barleywine is just the fruit forward jammy jam beer you needed this winter.
It should come as no surprise that New Belgium Brewing Company holds a special place in my heart. As I’ve documented before, I first fell in love with craft beer in the winter of 2009 while taking advantage of free tasters in the New Belgium Brewing Liquids Center (tap room). At the time, I was an AmeriCorps member serving the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer Co, with a living stipend that was below minimum wage. So free tasters of beer was about all the entertainment I could afford at the time.

Upslope Brewing Company has come a long way from its humble beginnings 7 years ago. Most Coloradoans have become familiar with their core lineup of cans as solid pack-in pack-out refreshment options. The Boulder brewery has been able to prove that it’s not a one-trick pony in recent years with a slew of inventive seasonal releases such as their Pumpkin, Christmas, White Thai IPA, and this year’s standout Blood Orange Saison. However, perhaps the greatest display of what Upslope is truly capable will be on display this Saturday during their 7th Anniversary Party. Read More

Quality. Consistency. Camaraderie. These three ideals serve not only as the motto to Denver’s newest neighborhood craft brewery, Call to Arms Brewing Company, but they also echo as a rallying cry to reclaim what the craft beer industry has at some times lost focus on over the past two years. Wynkoop Brewing Company | Barrel Aged Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout
January 1, 2015 | Cory PelcWho’s got the biggest… cans of them all? In walks Wynkoop’s Barrel Aged Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout in 19.2oz cans. Sure their can itself may not be the” largest” format craft can, but its “contents” may just be the most coveted this side of the Vanilla Rye-filled Mississippi.
Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with notes of wood and vanilla and… wait, what am I drinking? What is a Rocky Mountain Oyster? Hold on, what? Calf fries, swinging steaks, prairie oysters, cowboy caviar, criadillas in Mexico, Montana tendergroins, dusted nuts, bull fries or swinging beef? You’re kidding, right?!
ABV: 7.8%
IBU: 30-70
SRM: 30-40
BPB (balls per barrel): 3
Odell Brewing | Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout
February 25, 2014 | Lauren_Hoff 2ABV: 8.5%
I am not sure which is more exciting, Odell Brewing Company‘s chocolate milk stout known as Lugene or the story behind its name. It is no secret that Fort Collins produces a lot of spent grain in order to make beer, and it all has to go somewhere. For the past decade, the spent grain from Odell’s has been picked up by local farmer, Lugene Sas to feed his dairy cows at Taft Hill Dairy. That’s an entire two truckloads a day! The staff at Odell even made a fun photo editorial of the process to show how it is used. Read More
