South Asian Heritage Month | Why It Matters To The Beer Industry
August 9, 2022 | Ruvani de SilvaBeing a South Asian in beer within the diaspora can be a lonely business. As per Brewer’s Association data from 2021, just 2% of US breweries are owned by Asians, with no available information on South Asians specifically. With so few South Asians involved in the beer industry, taking time to reflect on and celebrate South Asian Heritage Month* (July 18 -August 1**) offers an opportunity to amplify our presence, support one another, and reach out and share our culture through the medium of beer, our chosen career or interest.
Ultimate 6er | Road Trip Regional Edition: Mountain
August 2, 2022 | Jason MurphyJoin us as we road trip across the United States in what is to be a follow up article to the Craft Beer Across America article. In that article we explored a craft beer from every state (excluding districts and territories) to showcase some of the unknown, or lesser-known craftier beers that the U.S. craft beer scene has to offer. While that article focused mainly on the beers, this article focuses on specific breweries from a region we think would be fun to visit. We’re going to sprinkle in a couple of bigger craft breweries in each six-brewery regional section just to help spread the word for some of the not-so-big breweries in the mix.
This is by no means a “best of” brewery list. We just wanted to highlight some breweries that brew excellent beer and have great environments and to possibly fine out more about what they do other than brew beer. Please join us as we start our road trip with the Mountain Region which includes Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming.

Pipeworks Brewing Co. | Super Rainbow Sure Bet
July 28, 2022 | Jeff KneseSuper Rainbow Sure Bet from Pipeworks Brewing Company in Chicago isn’t subtle with its can design or willingness to use lots of ingredients. The beer itself, however, will surprise you. It’s a delicate but nuanced tropical Imperial IPA that is more like being kissed by a unicorn than kicked by one.

Cinder Block Brewery | Cinderveza Mexican Style Lager
May 19, 2022 | Katie CamlinFew things are more satisfying than a well-crafted lager on a warm day. Crisp, clean and cold… it’s better than water. Add a lime, and it’s borderline euphoria.
Fire Maker Brewing Co. | Peach Chattahooch-Tea Southeastern IPA
May 12, 2022 | Jason MurphyThere was a band that released a song in the mid-nineties called Peaches. If you’re lucky enough to remember this catchy song, you’ll remember that they talk about moving to the country to eat a lot of peaches. While you can get peaches in the country, you don’t always have to go there to get them like they want you to believe. Heck, you can even go to Atlanta and drink them in the form of a beer.

Imperial Oak Brewing | 2020 & 2022 BBA Quiet Giant Preview
May 5, 2022 | Mathew PowersThe Imperial Oak Brewing BBA Quiet Giant series doesn’t quite get the attention that other Chicago-area BBA releases receive, but its quality is on par with some of the best in the metro area. And the brewery’s annual, crowded anniversary party and Quiet Giant release speak to the love affair many have with the series. Though we have covered the release as a preview each year, we wanted to appeal to those beer-cellar lovers by opening a 2020 Quiet Giant Aged Two Years in Bourbon (and then aged in this writer’s basement “BBA fridge” for two additional years) to see how well Quiet Giant ages.
