College Football Playoff Beers
December 28, 2015 | Victoria Pratt
The College Football Playoffs are here for only the second time in history! If you are a fan of the Clemson Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan State Spartans, or the Oklahoma Sooners, congratulations, your team made it to the final four. We cannot think of any better way to ring in this prestigious competition then by enjoying delicious, even local, craft beer. Below is a list of favorites for all the teams still vying for the National Championship. Let us know what you had while watching the games!
The Ultimate 6er | Trick R Treat!
October 28, 2015 | Cory PelcHalloween is my favorite holiday. Something about the crisp fall air and the leaves changing colors has always pulled at my heart strings. Growing up in Colorado, we would always wait for the 31st of October and crossing our fingers that it wouldn’t snow so you didn’t have to wear a coat under your costume. Fast-forward a bunch of years and the holiday still has me twisted. I look forward to picking out my costume, planning on which parties I can attend and planning my must-try beers to go along with my favorite Halloween movies. My favorite Halloween movie is without a doubt, Trick R Treat. The one from 2007 and not the 80’s one. Sure, the 80’s film is great for all of its metal mischief but it can’t hold a candle-in-a-jack-o-lantern to the Samhain anthology of stories that intertwine and enthrall you into following all of the Halloween rules!

Epic Brewing exploded onto the beer scene in Salt Lake City in 2008 and quickly started being recognized for their exemplary beers both domestically and internationally. To keep up with their demand and expand their distribution, co-founders David Cole and Peter Erickson headed east across the Rockies and opened a second brewery in Denver’s River North district. The new Denver location also allowed them to expand their barrel system and create a sour beer program too.

Ultimate 6er | Alliterative Ales
March 11, 2015 | Brady AkersI’m incredibly intrigued and enamored by alliteration. Rapid repetition rewards readers, requires readiness and reaps reward. Wow, it is tough to keep that up. With so many beers that have incredibly creative names, I thought I would focus on breweries that utilized my favorite stylistic literary device. I’ll allow my inner word-nerd to come out to say that alliteration has multiple forms, but I am going to focus on the repeated sound of the first consonant in a series of words. While I would love to put Founders Peter Piper Peppered Pale Ale on my list, I was not fortunate enough to try this taproom-only creation from a few years back.
Cooking with Beer | Lil’ Raspberry Cookies
February 13, 2015 | Chelsea Mitchell
Hopefully the only hearts that get broken this Valentine’s Day are these cookie hearts when you take a big bite out of them. For this holiday edition of Cooking with Beer, I’ve teamed up with Epic Brewing Company to showcase their newest brew to cans, Lil’ Brainless Raspberries. This sweet treat is easy drinking with the perfect amount of raspberry punch. This flavor profile is why it was chosen to create the raspberry filling for the lemon shortbread cookies. Not to mention the pretty in pink cans were extremely hard to resist. If you’re trying to impress your crush or you’re just really into cookies, bake a batch of these Lil’ Raspberry Cookies. If you’re really trying to win extra brownie points, get an extra sixer of Lil’ Brainless Raspberries to go along with them. Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers!
