Event Recap | Chicago Beer Classic at Soldier Field
May 17, 2017 | Mathew PowersAlthough the last vestiges of winter traversed Lake Michigan and infiltrated the Chicago Beer Classic on May 6, glorious blue skies and both golden sunshine and beer screamed, “spring.” Besides, a little cool breeze couldn’t ruin an experience provided by 100+ brewers pouring beer at a venue that provided plenty of proverbial “wow factor.” Produced by Red Frog Events, few venues exceed the uniqueness offered by a chance to sip a beer while standing on the Chicago Bears logo at the 50-yard line. Go Bears, or go beers — both applied. The additional component of the stadium’s role in paying homage to America’s soldiers only added to the fest’s positives.

The festival featured 113 different beers with some really rare and special offerings available from 55 different breweries from all across the country. Event Recap | Beers Made By Walking 2016
October 17, 2016 | Kara Loo and Kelissa Hieber 1Beers Made By Walking’s sixth go-around did not disappoint attendees at the Denver Nature and Science museum this past Tuesday, Oct. 4. Attendees rolled in at 5:30 p.m. sharp to fill their tasting glasses alongside earthly relics like a sparkling gemstone exhibit and a huge whale skeleton suspended from the rafters. The setting was certainly fitting for the nature theme of the festival, and breweries displayed whimsical adjuncts like pine cones and berries on their respective tables. I felt a buzz just thinking about how the event’s proceeds would be directly benefitting this museum we were standing in.

Event Recap | Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival 2016
August 23, 2016 | Cory PelcCigar purists are just like craft beer purists. That’s not a defamatory statement. That’s a big compliment. They embrace and showcase the vibrancy of their industry, the love of the leaf and the camaraderie that goes hand in hand with their hobby. They fight against regulation and the proverbial ‘man’ that holds them down, that tries to snub them out. While we feel their pain with the latter and their ongoing trials and tribulations with smoking ban after smoking ban, we see the big brands buying up our favorite craft breweries and controlling their distribution.

Event Recap | 2016 Sesh Fest
August 15, 2016 | David ThompsonSession beers and day drinking: it’s a match made in heaven. Modern sessions are light, refreshing and usually less than 5% ABV, which means they are perfectly suited to consume in your bro tank, playing yard games with a group of friends. Setting up a day drinking beer festival focused on Colorado’s best session beers is one of the reasons that Sesh Fest is becoming one of the better and more fun beer festivals in Colorado. The other reasons the 2016 rendition of Sesh Fest was such a success include a killer list of participating craft breweries with a laid back atmosphere and plenty of Colorado sunshine! Read More

Event Preview | Microbrew Mile Makes Quad Cities Thirsty
June 10, 2016 | Nick OstdickTake a look around the craft beer world today and you’ll find a pairing almost as common as a big IPA and juicy pub burger; beer and running. The connection seems incongruous given the usual clientele for craft beer–the “neckbearded,” the slightly paunchy, those predisposed to excess–but you can’t deny the sheer number of beer mile events and or beer-related distance running races that have begun to pop-up in cities across the country.

Festival Recap | 2016 Collaboration Fest
March 25, 2016 | Cory PelcIn its third iteration, the 2016 Collaboration Fest boasted its biggest and most successful ‘collab fest’ yet. The Denver-based festival invites breweries to collaborate with one another to create unique, one-off beers that are to be poured at this festival only with some of the beers being made available otherwise but in most scarce amounts. Our friends over at the Colorado Brewer’s Guild and Two Parts put on one hell of an event and stepped up in all of the right places. Sports Authority Field at Mile High continues to be a great facility for the event as we got to mill around and talk shop with many a brewer and imbiber alike again this year.
