5 Questions With: Purpose Brewing & Cellars’ Peter Bouckaert
April 11, 2019 | Taylor LaabsBrewing beer is hard. Starting a brewery is even harder. Along with making the beer that keeps the lights on, there’s logistics, staff, space and marketing workflows that need to be addressed and accounted for. It’s a big undertaking that takes a certain sense of passion and entrepreneurship; many brewers often say it’s a calling. This was the case for Peter Bouckaert when he decided to open up Purpose Brewing & Cellars last year.

What’s great about Odell Brewing Company (besides the fact that it has an employee stock ownership plan) is the brewery’s ability to produce high quality beer no matter the style or the size of production. From the Fort Collins brewery’s core line up, to one-off specialty taproom ales, to its Cellar Series barrel-aged beers, I always know that an Odell beer is going to deliver.
Event Recap | Mainline Ale House & Odell Brewing Co. Fall Beer Dinner
September 30, 2016 | Cecelia KathleenTwo beer-centric establishments of Fort Collins, Mainline Ale House and Odell Brewing Company, joined forces last Friday night in bringing roughly forty attendees an unforgettable four course beer dinner. At the start of dinner, Mainline’s Executive Chef Justin Burdick really emphasized sourcing local ingredients (shout out to the Fort Collins Farmers Market) and fall-forward flavors. The Mainline kitchen did not disappoint in delivering four thoughtful, tasty pairings to accompany always-solid Odell beers. Moreover, after Chef Justin discussed each dish, Odell beer representative Alex Cousins presented the story, style, and flavors of the beers during each respective course. Overall, Mainline’s motto, “A passion for beer and food you can taste,” could not have been more evident over the course of this event!

Odell Brewing Company- 5 Barrel Pale Ale
January 10, 2013 | Tristan Chan 1When I first moved to Colorado and discovered the wide world of craft beer, I fell into a dreamatorium universe of hops. So it doesn’t come to any surprise that I wasn’t initially taken to Odell Brewing Company’s 5 Barrel Pale Ale, because simply put, I didn’t find it hoppy enough. To be fair it is a Pale Ale, not an IPA and I was also comparing it to the likes of Odell’s IPA, New Belgium’s Ranger, and Ska’s Modus Hopperandi. Apples to Oranges.
New Belgium Brewing- Imperial Coffee Chocolate Stout
December 4, 2012 | Tristan ChanLost in the shuffle in the more recent trends of sours, black IPAs, saisons, and old world recipes has been the foregone marriage of chocolate and coffee. Sure a few classic coffee beers are still hanging around shelves, or pop up infrequently from start up microbreweries, such as Renegade’s Sunday Morning. But it seems like those coffee flavored brews have lost some of the hype. New Belgium’s Imperial Coffee Stout definitely restores that swag.
Odell Brewing Company – The Meddler
October 15, 2012 | Philip JoyceABV – 8.9%
When it comes corked in a Belgian bottle, I’m that much more excited about trying new beers. The Meddler from Odell Brewing Company is a rendition of a traditional style Flemish ale, Oud Bruin, in which traditional yeast is mixed with bacteria to produce an honestly sour concoction. Uncorking this hibernating beast scared my roommate away from his fixation on a two-star Netflix movie, not because of fear, but because he is well in tuned with the sound of beer corks popping. New Belgium Tour De Fat 2012 – Fort Collins
September 7, 2012 | Andy ManshelOn a sunny summer Saturday, it’s only 8am and the mercury is already over 80 degrees; today is going to be a hot one. I dug into the bowels of my closet to find whatever mismatch of clothing and/or flair I could get my hands on, grabbed a backpack full of water, sunscreen, and PBR and hopped on my bike. This, my friends, is the beginning ritual for thousands of beer enthused, fun lovers all around the country when New Belgium Brewery’s Tour De Fat rolls into town. Read More
