Westbrook Brewing Co. | One Claw
April 28, 2016 | Danele BovaWhen I think about the lowcountry of South Carolina, a few things come to mind: oyster roasts, Spanish moss, and Westbrook Brewing Company’s One Claw.
High Hops Brewery | The Power of Zeus APA
June 15, 2015 | Cory PelcHigh Hops Brewery | The Power of Zeus APA
ABV: 7%
IBUs: 69
High Hops use Zeus hops from their field to create this powerful pale ale. The hop is named after Zeus the Toad, who greeted the High Hops folks after they planted their very first Zeus plant! An American Pale Ale, the Power of Zeus is drinking so well right now on the proverbial porch. If you like dark caramel, grilled bread, pine and spruce resin, white flowers, big citrus peel flavors and a honeyed finish, then you need to get this pale ale in your face!
Odell Brewing Company | Wolf Picker Pale Ale
February 17, 2015 | Chris Day
With craft breweries opening at a rate of 1.5 per day, coming up with inventive names can be a real challenge for brewers. Thanks to aggressive litigation and creative marketing, we have inventive names like Raucho Man Randy Beverage from Against the Grain, Boom Shakalager from Terrapin, and my personal favorite: Those Candies Your Granny Loves Brown Ale from Cigar City. Then there’s Wolf Picker Pale Ale from Odell Brewing Company. What’s a Wolf Picker? Good question. Trigger warning: German subtitles.
Odell Brewing Company | Jaunt
August 13, 2014 | Chris Day7.6% ABV
I’m always excited to taste new entries in Odell Brewing Company‘s cellar series, a line of unique beers conceived on their pilot system. Over the years, this program has yielded delicious results such as Friek, Fernet-aged Porter, and Treeshaker. Jaunt is a recent addition to the family, a pale ale aged on oak staves and blended with Riesling grape juice sourced from Colorado’s western slopes. When I saw a bottle on the shelf in a local shop, I knew I had to have it.
Sidekick EPA – Two Brothers Brewing (Warrenville, IL)
March 5, 2014 | Sarah HargisIBU: 36.1
ABV: 5.1%
The last six months have seen an influx of new Midwestern and Colorado beers into Florida, and I, for one, am pretty darn excited about that. Founders and New Belgium are the two biggest new names in the state, but we are also starting to see some smaller breweries, such as Two Brothers. The Sidekick is the first beer I’ve tried from them. Zipline Brewing: Jack’s Pale
January 1, 2014 | Liz Riggs5.2% ABV

If you ever happen to find yourself in Lincoln, Nebraska, make your way to Zipline Brewing. Better yet, make your way to Bread & Cup or Jack & June’s. Not only are these delicious restaurants in a city that isn’t particularly drowned in options, but these are the only two places in town with Zipline’s Jack’s Pale on draft. In fact, besides the brewery itself, these are the only two places you can even get the beer—it’s a Zipline/Bread & Cup/Jack & June’s exclusive. And it’s delicious. Read More
Petrus Aged Pale Ale – Bavik Brewery
March 18, 2013 | Andy ManshelIf there’s one thing I love about Belgium, it’s their ability to brew incredibly good beer. And of my favorites, Belgian or not, are sours. When you’re mouth uncontrollably puckers is about the point where I like my sour ales to be, and Petrus Aged Pale Ale from Belgium’s Bavik Brewery does a damn fine job of making your mouth implode (in a wonderfully pleasant way).
