Cooking with Beer | Corned Beef Stew with Yards Love Stout
March 12, 2018 | Samantha StoryThere are many dishes that have come to represent St. Patrick’s Day. From shepherd’s pie to soda bread, colcannon to boxty’s, these forms of Irish fare exemplify the simplistic nature of living off of the crops and the land in Ireland. There is one dish that stands out in many people’s minds as being the epitome of true Irish cooking; corned beef.

PorchDrinking Playlist | Not Your Traditional Holiday Tunes
December 19, 2017 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsHey friends! We are no doubt heading into the homestretch of the holiday festivities.
If you are lucky, you have the chance to sit back and relax, avoiding the last minute shopping many of us seem to torture ourselves with every year. Along with the crowded stores, you may be just about done with the traditional holiday music playing on repeat for the past month. Admittedly, there is some secret level of internal glee when we hear a Burl Ives or Bing Crosby classic right after Thanksgiving. These songs are great and there is a reason they have become so popular over the years.

April 24, 2017 | Jose MinayaPorchDrinking closed out winter with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild during their Burly Beer Fest on Saturday, April 1st. The festival featured 113 different beers with some really rare and special offerings available from 55 different breweries from all across the country. PorchDrinking Playlist | Thanksgiving
November 22, 2016 | Holly GerardIt’s that time of year again. The holidays have begun and Thanksgiving is already here! Be prepared (at least with the music you’re going to play) with this Thanksgiving playlist. It holds a nice mix of modern indie and americana, classical strings and piano, retro jazz, and even a little bit of 60s folk the perfect background tunes to pair with your meal. Have a great Thanksgiving!
What We’re Drinking | November 18, 2016
November 18, 2016 | Danele BovaWe at PorchDrinking are equally opportunity drinkers. We believe in all beers, because #beerlivesmatter. We believe that no one style should dominate an entire season. We welcome all styles into our hearts and mouths, year around!
Okay, okay, you get it. It’s basically Thanksgiving and we’re not obsessing over pumpkin spice ales… yet. Check out What We’re Drinking this week.
Ultimate 6er | 6 Beers to Get Through Thanksgiving with the Relatives
November 16, 2016 | John BaumAdmit it. The Thanksgiving Macy’s Day Parade sucks.
Only the high school marching bands offer live entertainment, while the rest of the parade is bloated with understudy casts performing pre-recorded show tunes, and one-hit wonder Billboard-chart newbies attempting to look excited while lip-syncing vapid hits next to puppets and Teletubbies. The floats are kind of cool, if you mute the scripted minutiae rattled off by the commentators, and a strangely skinny Al Roker donning his Indiana Jones hat while inserting puns and cutesy anecdotes. But this Thanksgiving, the parade may be the best part of the day. Think about it. How long after the turkey is carved might the conversation rumble down this dangerous road:
“You voted for _________?!”
“What? You didn’t?”
Let the post-election Thanksgiving melee begin. Read More
