Squatters Craft Beers | 147 West Broadway Hop IPA
October 29, 2021 | Tim HaranPicture it: Salt Lake City, September 1989. The lights of Utah’s Broadway just got a whole lot brighter. On Sept. 5 of that year, Squatters Craft Beers opened its doors at 147 W. Broadway to become the capital city’s first brewpub. More than three decades later, the pub that ignited Salt Lake’s craft beer revolution is reflecting on its roots.
147 West Broadway Hop, a West Coast-style IPA, is the first in Squatters’ new series of rotating IPAs designed to celebrate the city’s now-booming beer community.
Perrin Brewing Company | Black Ale
August 29, 2019 | Jessica SpenglerHere in West Michigan and throughout the state, it’s hard to believe Perrin Brewing Company hasn’t reached the level of Bell’s or Founders. The quality of their beers, from the easy-drinking No Problems Session IPA to the renowned No Rules Porter, is only topped by the killer events and festivals they throw. Nowhere is their top-notch beer crafting more apparent than in their flagship brew, Perrin Black Ale.
Squatters Craft Beers | Outer Darkness
August 29, 2017 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsIt’s time to kick it old school. The craft beer boom of the last several years has everyone chasing the newest, most hoppy, most sour, fruitiest, haziest, or rarest barrel aged beast out there. We admit, we’ve caught ourselves in the Untappd beer culture looking to add precious notches to our belts. We have saved that special beer for that 500th, 1000th and so on badge. Experiencing new beer is always going to be a blast. But there is something to be said about going back to the beginning and rediscovering great beer from your past.
What We’re Drinking | March 31, 2017
March 31, 2017 | Dan BortzThrough no fault of our own, we didn’t get to post What We’re Drinking last week. The opposition party believes that this was caused by a vast international conspiracy. Luckily, the chairman of the House Beer Blog Oversight Committee assures me that there is nothing to worry about and has canceled all future hearings on the matter. We should be in the clear, as long as Fake Tears over in the Senate doesn’t dig too deep into this. In order to wipe this minor oversight from your minds, I present a special two-week edition of What We’re Drinking. Fake news!
2 Days, 2 Nights of Craft Beer in Salt Lake City
May 23, 2016 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsIf you’re looking for a beercation like the rest of us, we know you can have an exceptional one here. Utah is generally thought of as that dry place between craft beer mega states Colorado and California. Unlike the super states that surround us in virtually every direction, you can truly experience a good amount of what Utah beer has to offer in just 2 days and 2 nights, sightseeing along the way. Squatters Brewery | Wellied Irish Style Stout
March 17, 2015 | Kara Loo and Kelissa HieberABV: 4% IBU: 15
Step aside, fiery shots of Irish whiskey; move away, dastardly rounds of Irish car bombs! If you find yourself in search of some easier drinking this St. Patty’s Day, Squatters Wellied Irish Style Stout is the perfect solution, especially if you or some friends want to partake in traditional Irish-style imbibing with a lower risk factor. For a jet-black style, this beer drinks light and easy, and with only 4% alcohol by volume, the decision is probably less likely to backfire on you the next morning.
