PorchDrinking’s Weekly Denver Beer Beat | September 13, 2017
September 13, 2017 | Cory PelcThe Denver Beer Beat sheds light on news of brewery openings, special tappings, firkins and one-off batches, bottle releases, dinners, pairings, etc.
It’s me, Cory Pellicle, on top of all things beer (see what I did there?) for this week here in the Denver area. I’m filling in for Jeremy while he is out on vacay. He is probably skulling coldies right now and hiking hills and doing all kinds of other ill shit. Well deserved, Jeremy, well deserved.
But don’t worry! Jeremy will be back next week and we will be continuing to flesh out the 2017 GABF calendar. We just put up a shipload of events. Go peep ’em out, beer nerds. And keep coming back for more GABF coverage on the site!

Funky Buddha Brewery | Fire in the Hole
September 13, 2017 | Anna DacostaWhile preparing for Hurricane Irma, I opened the fridge to find this interesting treat by Funky Buddha Brewery and realized it was the perfect beer for a time like this. An explosive beer, this rotates yearly in the Little Buddha Small Batch series. Fire in the Hole takes on a whole new level of spice. This red ale brewed with raspberries and habanero is too intriguing of a combination to pass up. Fire in the Hole was a drinkable distraction from all of the hurricane preparation. It is available throughout Florida in bottles and on tap for a limited time.

Ultimate 6er | Feeling Nostalgic About Pop-Punk Music
April 26, 2017 | Lora KormosI recently attended 2 sold out nights of New Found Glory’s 20 years of pop-punk anniversary tour in Philadelphia. I was feeling a little nostalgic to think this band has been around for 20 years now. They had performed during the first concert I ever went to. Completely unsure of what to expect at my first concert, I stood in a mosh pit with platform sandals on. Years later, I learned not to wear that same footwear attire to a concert ever again. PorchDrinking Playlist | Heavy Hitters
April 20, 2017 | Kristina KurdylaWelcome to baseball season! It’s no secret some songs get the crowd pumped. For this playlist, I had to listen to a few hours worth of “walk-out music” (tough, I know). What transpired is a list of songs that made me want to move and jam out. It also caused me to conjured up fond memories of baseball games throughout the years.
Jersey Girl Brewing | Rake Breaker IPA
April 7, 2017 | Kristina KurdylaABV: 6.5%
Ah, Jersey Girl. There are many connotations associated with this phrase, beer most likely not making the top three. But you better get yourself acquainted with the name, because Jersey Girl Brewing has been pumping out some amazing brews lately with Rake Breaker leading the charge. Citrus and tropical fruit are showcased prominently on the nose. Additionally, when you catch that first whiff, you can’t help but smile and look forward to the moment that crisp and fresh, juicy, yet slightly sweet beer hits your taste buds rounding out with a bitter and dry finish. 10 Dessert Beers You Should Be Drinking After Each Meal
February 9, 2017 | Lora KormosAs a kid, you were always told, “No dessert until you finish your dinner.” If you were like me, you’d push around your broccoli and then wait for the dog to walk by, or hide the leafy greens under a rug as you eyed the chocolate cake sitting on the table.
But, now you are an adult. You get to decide if you want to finish your plate of steamed vegetables. And even better, you can have cookies and ice cream for breakfast if you choose. Even better, if you want to have beer for dessert, you could totally do that too!

Søle Artisan Ales | Pineapple Smoosh
January 16, 2017 | Lora Kormos 1Style: American Double/Imperial IPA
ABV: 7.80% | IBU: 35
I glanced at my phone, bleary-eyed to see a time of 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Unlike my typical weekend morning, I found myself standing outside of the Susquehanna Brewing Company building in a long line, waiting for the latest can release from their contract brewer, Søle Artisan Ales. The release was being held at noon and I had several long hours ahead of me for my first ever specialty release. Bundled up in layers upon layers of clothing and blankets, I anxiously waited in the cold Pennsylvania weather to get my gloved hands on a case of Pineapple Smoosh, one of the latest milkshake style beers.

It’s almost that time of the year when you get to gather around friends and family willingly or unwillingly to stuff your face with a weeks worth of food. If you are need of a beer or three to help ease the pain or to enjoy with friends and family be sure to check out our list of beers to pair with your Thanksgiving meal.

It’s also that time of the year when hordes of people will make the pilgrimage out to shop on Black Friday. Instead of fighting through thousands of people to get that 4k TV or Bourbon County beer that you gotta have, shop online, opt for an adventure outside, or even better check out one of the many Black Friday beer events going on around the Denver metro area. My good friend Cory has put together a sick list of all the happenings around Denver as well as be sure to check out the calendar of other events going on this week including the grand opening of Green Mountain Beer Company.
