Schlafly Beer | Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
April 4, 2016 | Mike ZollerSt. Louis is quietly becoming a hub for some of the country’s best craft beer. Currently Schlafly Beer is available in 13 states and Washington DC. They feature a great variety of year-round beers, seasonals and special release brews. The process of aging beers in bourbon barrels is no longer a novelty, but a norm in the craft beer industry now. Schlafly has two beers in their wood aged series and one of them is their Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout.
Bronx Brewery B-Sides | Uptown Coffee Milk Stout

BREWING: January – February
I’m just going to get straight to the point: this limited release was so delicious that my weekend morning coffee ritual was immediately replaced by Uptown Coffee Milk Stout via the growler purchased.

There are few things that I love more than a good bowl (or perhaps two) of Salt & Straw ice cream. Every time I’m anywhere in the vicinity of Portland, Oregon, where the chain is based, I immediately find myself in line waiting anxiously for a few scoops.

Zipline Brewing | BA Chocolate Double Stout

ABV: 11.5%
When Zipline Brewing Co. first opened its doors a few short years ago, I instantly became a fan. From the get-go, they were turning out solid beer in a number of styles, with many featuring a creative twist that made them unique and especially interesting for craft beer lovers. Like the sense of fun and adventure the brewery’s name suggests, these guys love to push the envelope without being reckless. The result? Some damn good beer from a place you wouldn’t expect—Lincoln, NE.
While I’m now a Denver resident surrounded by some of the country’s premiere breweries, it was still critical that I showcased the quality beer coming out of Zipline. I chose one of their latest creations, the Barrel-Aged Chocolate Double Stout, because, well, it’s amazing. Read More

Southern Tier Brewing Co. | Crème Brûlée
February 3, 2016 | Kristin HubbardABV: 9.5%
One of the best aspects of a bottle share is bountiful sampling of new flavors, sharing reviews and basking in memories with friends, while also drinking an insane amount of delicious beers leading to that rewarding, almost necessary hangover the next morning.
Another bonus, especially if you host such an event, is the left over bottles that didn’t get to be enjoyed. Read More
Hale’s Ales | Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
January 11, 2016 | Katelyn Pelak
ABV: 9.9% | IBU: 26
Even in a beer-crazy neighborhood like the Ballard area of Seattle, Hale’s Ales stands out as a symbol of the early craft beer revolution. Mike Hale, the brewery’s founder, opened Hale’s Ales Brewery in 1983 and the brewery has been a staple of Pacific Northwest brewing ever since. In the sea of Ballard’s microbreweries, growlers, and flannel shirts, the large Brewery and Pub that has served as Hale’s Ales home base since 1995 suggests a permanence that promises to outlive last winter’s mustaches, this year’s beards, and whatever new facial fashions are donned by Ballard’s trendy, beer-loving residents in the years to come. That is why the Barrel Aged Imperial Stout is a great topic for today’s review – the beer is a magnificent representation of the boldness, the longevity, and the stoutness of the Hale’s Ales institution.

Southern Tier Brewing Co.| Choklat

Lakewood, New York, is by no means a bustling metropolis.
In all honesty, I have never been to this village – yes, village, you heard me correctly – which sits at the very southwestern tip of the state. Because I haven’t experienced the place first-hand, I took it upon myself to do a bit of research on Lakewood, and the following is what I know to be true.

Creature Comforts | See The Stars Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout
September 24, 2015 | Johnathan PylantABV: 10.9%
Creature Comforts Brewing Co. experienced a milestone this month that was marked with a handful of firsts for the brewery. They bottled their first barrel aged stout, which was released at their first bottle release event that turned out to be their largest event since opening. The entire event was calculated with as much attention to the details as possible. The beer, See the Stars, was more than a year in the making. The patience, initiative and discipline to make all this happen shines through the brew it became. Read More

Ethereal Brewing | Lambda Oatmeal Stout
May 29, 2015 | Katie Oswalt 1
ABV: 5.7% | IBU: 30
Though Ethereal Brewing has been cranking out new recipes consistently throughout its first year in business, the same brew still warms my soul week in and week out.
The Lambda Oatmeal Stout, my tasty favorite, was named the Lambda for a very good reason. The lambda is a measurement of industrial malfunctions, which seemed all too appropriate for the title of this accidental brew success. Due to the level of popularity of stouts, the brewers decided it would make no sense to even attempt the initial recipe. It has now become the most popular beer on the menu, second only to the IPA.
